Gaining over a night?

I weigh myself every morning in order to see if I've lost weight or if I've stayed the same. But today, the scale said almost 0.5 kg more than yesterday! Could this be due to the fact that I could barely sleep during the night and spent most time coughing (I'm sick), or could it be water weight or anything like that? Because I ate about 1,200 calories yesterday and I can't put weight on by that, can I?

Maybe you are not eating enough. Do you know what your BMR is? If you are close to your goal weight, you probably should not eat less than your BMR. Just my opinion...0

Even if you had an exact amount of calories coming in and calories going out during the day.... a woman's "scale weight" can fluctuate based on their menstrual time of the month, salt consumption, medications, recent exercise regimen, when you ate, to name ONLY a few.
The only weight gain you should be worried about is "fat" gain. You can not add a .5 pound of fat unless you have an imbalance of at least +1,750 kcal of food consumed vs kcal burned through your daily BMI + physical activity.
My suggestion do not weigh yourself daily. When you do, make sure it is at the same time of the day, the same days of the week. Know that when the scale doesn't make sense because you are doing everything right, exercising, eating enough but not too many calories, eating small healthy meals through out the day that most likely it is something temporally out of your control and will pass.
Now, for me, how to recover from the Thanksgiving Weekend!? I need help getting back on track! :-)0 -
UGH it's sooo hard for me to track my weight!! I usually weigh every morning or every other morning, and for two days I was down two pounds so I logged it, and then the next two mornings I'm right back up. What causes that kind of a blip? There aren't any major changes I've made in what I eat or my activity levels.0

I hate weighing myself for the very same reason. It is so not motivating for me!!! I suggest only weigh yourself a few times a month..... only then it is truely effective. Otherwise you just fluctuate according to ur cycle/water and salt intake.0

I need to listen to my own advice and STAY OFF THE SCALE. For me, it is about "losing inches", not about that dumb number. And yet, every time I'm at the gym, I just can't help but hop onto that damn scale as I'm changing to run outta there.
