Carbs/Calories

My dr has put me on a low carb diet cause it seems to be the only thing that works for me. I have had gestational diabetes before and it helped me to lose 36lbs during my pregnancy and within the first 30 days after i delivered my daughter (i was at 261 at the first prenatal appt and 30 days after I delivered i was at 225) i am now at 218.5. I have been having hormonal problems and not been able to lose much in the last 3 months, the lowest i have been is 212.7 and that lasted like a day and i shot back to 215. So after all this my dr took me off the diet for a week and wants me to now start low card and lean muscle building. so do i still try and keep the calories low and the carbs (which seems very hard) or just focus on carbs mostly? and how many carbs should i do and how many calories? Thanks for your help!

Me personally I don't worry about the calories at all. I have my macros set at 70% fat, 25% Protein and 5% carbs and my calories are at 1400. Even though I'm not focused on the calories they usually fall around the 1400 mark. It's a bit of a personal choice though and I would have though that your doctor would have suggested how low you need to go - although knowing doctors probably not lol!!

Everyone has their own carb level that they can eat to before they stop losing weight...maybe start off low and work your way up to something you feel comfortable with??

Make sure you keep your water intake up and eat lots of vegetables and low carb fruits; like strawberries, blueberries etc. It wouldn't hurt to throw in a multi-vitamin tablet either :-))

Might be a good starting point to research things like the Atkins diet - there is a lot of useful information on the website and even if you don't follow that specific 'diet' it's still a good read.

    Good luck to you!!
  • Thanks, that s some really good advice that i didnt even think about! Right now i have my carbs set at 20% which is 79 a day! he wanted me below 100 but didnt say anthing about calories. ill just focus on carbs right now and see what it does for me.

    thanks
