Where do you hold your phone or ipod? Or do you just run/walk withit in your hand?

I use an armband, but the next outerwear I buy, will have a spot for it. I hate catching the cord for the headphones with my arm swings!

if i'm double bagging the ladies (I have a shirt that's too big on top to be supportive but I like it because its looseish around the belly) then I stick it in between my 2 shirts. Since you are a guy and theoretically do not have any ladies to hold things for you, I will add that when I am NOT doing that I put it in my back pocket (There's a zippered pocket in the back of my running pants -- I bought them BECAUSE They had a pocket)

My boyfriend just puts his in the pocket of his shorts.

Pockets can be irritating because the cord kind of jangles around your arm and I IMAGINE that waist band holders would have the same issues, but a lot of shirts have a 'headset guide' which is generally just a little loop to thread the headphones through that holds the extra cord against your back instead o fletting it hit your arms/

    i have an armband.

for those with earbud cord issues - get yourself a bluetooth headset i  mine! I have one from Plantronics. I only use my earbuds when I'm traveling now (that way I don't have to worry about carrying around an extra charger)

Ditto on the bluetooth headset & running gear pocket. I've tried a few different styles of bluetooth headsets & the only reason I ever use wired ones is for the stupid C25K Blackberry app I bought that won't play on the bluetooth. Dumb.

So not only can I seal away my Blackberry in my back zippered pocket, but I can control the music on the headphones if I need to, as well as take phone calls if I ever wanted to, without taking it out of my pocket.

I did also purchase an armband because not all of my workout gear has handy pockets like that.

I have both an armband and a waist belt (little Spibelt). To be honest, I kind of hate both of them. The Spibelt is great for what it is, but having something around my waist hinders my breathing, and I have larger hips so if I push it down, it's just uncomfortable. The armband sort of squishes my arm (if I have it looser it slides down), but I prefer it to the waist band I guess. I tuck the excess headphone cord in the velcro flap that holds the armband in place.

If I'm wearing a jacket with pockets, I'll just shove my phone in there... but then it bounces and I have to keep pulling the jacket down. What I really need is a pair of run tights with proper pockets, but I'm not willing to shell out big bucks for nice pants until I'm done changing sizes.

...so I bought a GPS watch.

I have moobs, does that count?
Pocket seems it will flop around too much.

I'm leaning toward an arm band, I have a few months before I start C25k so I'm not in a hurry.

Only if you wear a bro to keep them in place.

I use an armband unless I am wearing my top with the pocket on the arm ( it also has the loop at the collar, it's the best). A waist band would drive me crazy:)

I have a bluetooth headset and I just hold my phone (I listen to Pandora) in my hand. That way if a song comes on that I hate I can quickly skip it. Plus I use the c25k app on my phone.

used to use an arm band
but now i use a bluetooth headset
  • I put mine in my jacket pocket, running the headphone cable down the inside of the jacket, out the bottom and back into the pocket.

Seems to work ok this way, other than when the cable drops a little and it "pulls" on the earbud, a little. Its no biggie, just niggles abit.

As a man, this way, you never foget you've got your iPod, especially if its the "classic", as is mine.... Something that heavy, swinging around in a "just below the waist" pocket, regularly "reminds" you that its there......

I like the idea of a BT headset... Not sure if Cardio Trainer and the music player will run together on my Droid, Will do some research into this....

Any recomendations on good sounding BT headsets?

I was wondering the same. I've done my training on the treadmill and mostly just have the TV on. I tried to use my phone for music, set the phone on the treadmill the the swinging cord to my ears drove me nuts. Ran my first 5k on Thanksgiving and put the phone in my pants pocket and ran the cord up my jacket, that worked really well. Thought the weight in my pocket might be annoying but was ok. I'll have to figure something else out next spring for warm weather runs.
  • i'm usually on a treadmill but when i'm outside i put it in my front sweatshirt pocket or hold it if i don't have a pocket. i don't suggest this- i've dropped it sooo many times.

Here is my post from Sparkpeople and would like to know if any others have any insight on this one....

So here is my question for everyone. I am starting the couch to 5k AGAIN. I have an Iphone with the app and my music. I bought an Iphone armband, but I have to take my phone out of the case to put it in then it is hard to use button wise. None of my workout clothes have pockets to place my phone in....any suggestions on an easy way to hold it somewhere without too many issues?? I am concerned with putting it in my bra will the sweat mess up the phone??
  • Just completed W1D2 and I'm using an armband. Personally I found the cord annoying whether it was in front or behind me (front was worse). Would love to use the bluetooth headsets but I'm also using my Nike+ for more tracking which removes that option.

I use an armband but I recently bought a new shirt for the cooler weather that has a little pocket for it and I LOVE it. I'll be buying more of those.

at this time of year i just put my phone in my jacket pocket, i don't use the app with music so just have the voice on speaker when it says anything as i don't like to run with headphones for safety reasons. in milder weather i have both a waist band and arm band, i tend to use the waist band more as i don't have to take my phone ot of the case to use it and its big enough for tissues and keys but small enough not to be bulky. i don't really like the arm band as i feel it squeezes my bicep too much but its there if i need it
