Due to this ongoing scare (another scan today) I'm on couch rest so,uhm, no squats for me. I had a strawberry banana smoothie so that is 2 servings and I read 30 minutes of Gone With The Wind which is my favourite novel (but left it on my desk when wisked to hospital so have to start another book on the couch tomorrow). You are all doing so well and Becky, I am loving this challenge, just wish I was in a position to be a smidge bit more active!!

Only do what you can! That's an order from all your SC Sisters! LOL.

I am glad to hear that people are liking this... I am too! It helps me to stay focused on specific tasks each day. I needed to refocus so this is good.

    Keep it up everyone!
  • steph take care of yourself!

Had 2 portions of blueberries and an apple. Did my wall thingummies. Rebelled against the trashy magazine, as I really hate them and they wind me up, but I did read some of my trashy novel, does that count?

    Well I'm done today's challenge!
I actually got 70+ grams of protein  I wanted to do the bilateral supermans but refrained. However the hands in cold water was surprisingly nice and took my headache away (which I will take as not taking any pain meds!). Hope you are all having great days! :flowerforyou:

Well, did not get in the extra protein. Only was +1. Did the bilateral supermans (after I looked them up) and put hands in hot water. I am feeling pretty good today. Carla

done done and done woo! (i had to look up bilateral supermans but I did them)

I didn't know what it was either.

    Protein - done
    Superman - done
    Hands in water - done
  • oh protein, my nemesis . i may or may not have as my morning granola (which is seed and nut heavy) isn't officially logged as nutrition just as calories - so i'm not taking the points

very hard for this vegetarian to reach that kind of protein! i did have the bean/tvp heavy veggie chilli for dinner last nite and everything!

i havent done the supermen yet, but i'm going to do them tomorrow, as it's not going to happen today....although bicep curls were done while i was on my Gazelle this morning (i multi-task)

i just made the most delicious rissotto - then looked up and tried to figure out calories for my giant portion - i may be wrong, but it could have been 800 calories??? i actually only had 500 calories prior to dinner, but it just seems so wrong! it was good though

editing to say - my weightloss counter always bumps it to next number up when i'm at the 1/2 mark - which is deceiving even to me!! i'm only at 73.5 74.5 is half way!! so close!

Woops... I am really sorry that I have missed out on the last two days. I flew back and am home. Went into work that same day, did a bit of errands/shopping. Full work day today with a slight bit of shopping (no luck on finding what I was looking for!). Came home to ice my leg several times. Not sure what's up with my shin -- but hoping to have it be on the mend. I am gonna get back in here though - I know that I do better when I am around!

    THURSDAY'S CHALLENGES:

Nutrition: Thirsty Thursday! Drink that water... I read once that for weight loss - you should drink half your body weight in ounces. So, a person who weighs 200 pounds should drink 100 ounces/day, a person who weighs 250 should drink 125, etc. Not sure I can drink as many ounces as that wouuld mean for me... but I do know that when I am drinking water I am releasing more of those pounds out to the universe!

Fitness: Knee In & Outs or Tucks. For a video check out http://www.ehow.com/video_4945637_knees-out-exercises.html. These are great for your lower abs and hips! Basically the move is tucking your body and stretching it out. May be trickier than it appears because I am reading that it's "intermediate level"... let's see what everyone thinks, I don't believe I have done this one before.

Self-Care: Buy yourself flowers! OK, OK... this is much like the "trashy magazine" self-care. It doesn't need to be flowers, just take a few dollars/euros and buy yourself something that is just simply to be nice to yourself and to enjoy. It can NOT be purposeful or "useful" and "practical." Rather - it's just something fun to enjoy. Maybe a book, a candle, flowers, a special drink or "treat." Just something to be nice to yourself... can't think of what -- try flowers! This is about remembering to take care of ourselves. So many of us are caretakers by nature and neglect ourselves. So - today is about treating ourselves to something special. Pay close attention to how you feel about it, how much thought it takes, etc. Would you have spent that much time debating if it was a gift for someone else?

Good Luck and Happy Thirsty Thursday to you all!

My thought?!? You are ALL SUPERWOMEN... and now, you were gently nudged to really feel like it!

FYI: Knee in and outs - HARD! Oh my goodness... I couldn't do them! I know what will be adding to my plan for next year! I didn't think that they looked hard, figured that I could do them and yet, I failed miserably! Ugh!

Hope all of you are continuing with this - I am trying... not doing as well as I hoped... but trying none the less!

I guess I am not at flexible as you younguns' cause I did my supermans, but hardly lifted anything off the matt. If anyone was watching, I am sure they were wondering what the hell I was doing. I don't want to think about it. I gave myself the points for trying.

The ins and outs I did in the pool. I have to be careful about my back so doing a lot of these exercises in the pool until I get more flexible works for me.

Again, I looked like a doofus doing the air bicycles, but did them. I was not sure about the amount, so I did 5 reps of about 15 - 30 seconds each. Should we feel it in the abs? That was where I felt it.

I need to go online to figure out what hand step drills are for today. This is fun doing some different things.

I did not do any guided meditation yesterday, but did light some candles and indulge in some trashy reading but will not take any points for that one yesterday as I took them the other day for the trashy book. I bought myself a Poinsettia for my table so I counted that as buying myself flowers. I made eggplant parmesan for the family for dinner which was new for me. Not bad, I would make it again. So far not doing too badly but need to tighten up if I want to get my 90%.

Have fun everyone and keep it healthy. Carla

Oh my freakin ....... I just checked out hand step drills online. I will try this, but if I can do 5 of these things I will be lucky. It is like a plank but you move your hands up onto a step then back down again. I do not think I have enough strength in my arms for this one. Oh Becky, where did you find these torturous moves. :embarassed:

he, he, he... Thank you Carla for my laugh for the day! It's after midnight, but I still plan to try the hand step things. We'll see what I can do!

Actually - to answer your question I mostly researched the exercises on sparkpeople and ehow for different muscle groups. They are supposed to be "new" but not torturous... though those dang knee in and outs were for me! I thought that one looked easy... I scored a big fat ZERO! These, I hope to get a 2 or a 3... but, again, I am not sure what I can do! I don't have a "step" so to speak, so plan to use my stairs. May not be the exact right angle, but it will give me some toning, I hope!

I am love, love, loving this challenge - as I like the different focuses! So fun.

Christmas lights are up around and on the house (all outside, inside is getting skipped this year!). Not quite done, but will be tomorrow! Excited because I joined pinterest... so fun! Learning some ideas to try with the resident holiday photos on Monday and Tuesday.

OK, it IS after midnight which means that I better get these exercises done and get my booty to bed... Love to all of you!

Argh, been a bit awol...been a VERY manic few days...
been trying to keep up on the daily challenges wherever possible

thurs: bought myself a poinsettia to feel all christmassy, did the water,

fri: didn't technically try a new food, but i did order things when i went out for a meal that i wouldn't normally order...pizza and stuffed vine leaves (both of these things are not anywhere near my normal routine, and I never crave pizza, but it was actually delicious. (I did also try black pudding when I was cooked for on saturday which i've always been far too scared of!) I also did the bicycles even though i felt daft.

sat: bit of a nightmare day as I was out all day with my new bf, and then we went back to his and he cooked me dinner. thank gawd I'd skipped lunch, as dinner was delicious buy huuuuge and so calorific! very very yummy but wow it's so strange being COMPLETELY out of control (and he doesn't even know I've been dieting since I was so close to goal there seemed very little point making a big deal out of it...) He doesn't drink coffee/tea so the caffiene thing was easy and I just stuck to drinking water, but I didn't get a chance to light candles or do the step thingies.

sun: still at bf's lunch was...huge, still full now...(10pm)...trying to decide whether to eat a small stir fry or not...feel like I'm severely lacking in veggies today...
waaaay under my protein (but my goals ARE set to 30% and I managed to get 65g so maybe not so far off if it was the MFP ones of 15%).
    done the situps just now.

and my compliment I give myself is that my shoulders and back look and feel amazing. I know it sounds silly but all the new(ly exposed) bones in my body still give me a shock in the mirror. I'm getting that indentation that runs down the spine of a toned back and it feels great!

I'm gonna get in my full 50 crunches and I wasn't anywhere near my protein goal... ridiculous really! Ugh! Ate like a pig today... but what are you gonna do?!? Besides get my head screwed back on! Need to set some goals and it will be good...

Compliment to myself: I am a kind person who puts others needs in front of her own, without a second thought. That's pretty admirable.

Where did everyone go?!??!?!?!?!?
