Topic: Does exercise make you so hungry you may inadvertently eat your own arm?
Hey guys, so I've been watching everyone's posts and it looked like everyone but me was going to the gym or exercising in some way. My husband is all P90X crazy, so needless to say, he looks awesome, and even though I have lost 35 lbs, there's no way anyone would mistake me for someone that should wear a swimsuit in public. So, I'm biting the bullet and starting to work out. When I started medifast, I tried to work out, but it made me even hungrier. Then i actually hit a plateau during the week of working out, and resumed losing weight after I stopped. So now I'm all paranoid that if I work out I will have a ravenous appetite and possibly eat my child by mistake, or I will stop losing weight, which would be catastrophic for my willpower to stay the course.
So far, so good. 2 days in a row on the bike for 30 minutes, and I've lost .4 lbs. Anyone else have trouble with the willpower to work out? It's really hard because I come home and literally have to choose between spending time with my son or 30 min on the bike. But I figure if I'm going to keep this weight off, (or keep losing) I've got to build muscle and the ability to work out to burn the extra calories that i will someday eat.

I have a hard time wanting to exercise too. I am super busy. For me to work out - I have to get up early and get it in early. When I get home from work - I am tired. And right now I can't exercise because I sprained my ankle/Foot and am on crutches for at least another week. UGH!!!!
What I do about food is this and it seemed to help me break my plateau & get rid of the hunger - I add a 1/2 scoop of a protein mix to my medifast shake/soft serve etc. And then if my protein still looks low - I make egg whites for one of my meals. Not the meditast ones - but ones you get at the store. Low cal-high protein. The extra protein helps with the hunger.0 -
I've spent the last year working up to the point where I can work out 45 mins "moderately intense" and got to the point of actually REALLY liking it. I was bummed to learn that you're not really supposed to workout hard on MF - so I talked to them about it and got this advice.
No more than 45 mins at a time ever - period. Keep it moderate in terms of intensity - no crazy cardio. Shoot for a 200-300 cal burn. Always have something to eat before and after the workout. I'm thinking maybe split a shake 1/2 before or 1/2 after. And add 2 additional oz of protein somewhere throughout the day on days I work out. I have not had hunger yet on that advice and it's been about a week. Loss slowed a bit this week but I have a few other reasons for that (sushi splurge including wine) - so the jury is still out on the exercise impact on loss for me. I'm hopeful this plan will allow me to keep moving and still keep losing. We shall see!0 -

I haven't worked out for a few days and finally saw a move in the scale and have lost substantially everyday that I haven't worked out 1lb everyday since Monday except for today...so idk...I used to burn like 500 cal working out n I worked out for 3 weeks and only lost about 4 lbs in 3 weeks so for me I was like I still have 60+lbs to lose I will sculpt, tone,n build stamina later after I get out of the 200s I am planning on resuming workout but 200-300 cal every other day and doing the 4 n 2 plan to give me more calories0

The closer to goal I get, the more energy I get and I do think that exercising more - past 45 mins a day probably does not help my weight loss rate. Looking forward to long hikes again soon!!!
I add in hard boiled egg whites, or 1/4 cup egg substitute if I'm super active. Seems to help.0
