P90X2 Workout Scheduling

I just opened up my box and looked thru the lit that shipped with it. It seems rather "loose" in the schedule unlike P90X. What I mean is they say "do this phase for 3-6 weeks" and the recovery whenever you feel you need it. So I guess my question is this; Are we all going to follow the same schedule or just do it as we feel necessary?

I personally feel that I want to stick to the 3 weeks / 1 week recovery format. The program is still designed to be completed in 90 days but it seems like you could actually do this for longer.

Do you guys have any thoughts on this yet?

The Supergym on Team Beachbody has P90x2 in the auto scheduler already so you can kinda see a "format" but they leave it entirely up to us to determine how long we want to do each phase.

I think I may pop in recovery and mobility tomorrow and see what that's about. I am also going to take the time over the next month to check out the programs dvd's to see what it's all about.

seems the "auto scheduler" is not working properly for p90x2 yet :(
  • mine is scheduled to arrive on 17 DEC. I am a fan of the 3 week workout and 1 week recovery. Will have to figure it out....

I also watched the "how to bring it again" DVD which explains things a little more. Having watched that I may need to alter my thinking a little bit.

We actually came up with our own schedule which will include a few days of running.... so it will take us 10days to get through 7days!!! So we will do each phase these way for 30 days for a total of 90days.... dont think we will need and extra week of recovery because there are 2 recovery days and a yoga day in each 10day period!!! Here is the schedule we are following!!!

    Repeat this 10day cycle (3times)
    Day 1: X2 Core
    Day 2: Interval Sprints (10mins) / Plyocide
Day 3: Rest or X2 Recovery and Mobility
    Day 4: X2 Total Body & X2 Ab Ripper
    Day 5: Interval Run (20-30mins)
    Day 6: X2 Yoga
    Day 7: Pyramid Run
Day 8: X2 Balance and Power
    Day 9: Long Run (3+miles)
    Day 10: X2 Recovery & Mobility

That looks like a solid plan GiGi ... I think I am going to follow the program and see how I feel after week 1. The way the plan is it shows Day 3 and 7 as Rest Days or X2 Recovery and Mobility. I think I am going to take advantage of that. I will also be switching out the "additional options" in Phase 2 and maybe work in the 1 on 1's that I also received with the kit that I bought for Variety.

Did you take a LOOK at recovery week? HAHA every other day is YOGA!

I am going to follow Tony's advice about not moving on from Phase 1 till I feel comfortable doing it. The P90x2 program seems VERY fluid and I like that.

The forums at team Beachbody report that workout sheets will be online next week.

For those of you using the auto scheduler, please be advised that it may give you an error when trying to auto schedule on Firefox. When I used internet explorer it worked.

There is also a thread over there for people starting on January 2.

I pumped up my stability ball today!

I still need to read through the fitness guide.. I only looked at the nutrition guide which seems to be similar, you stay in whatever phase for as long as you see fit, not necessarily in the different stages.. that's how I read it anyway.

We watched how to bring it again and plyocide.. it looks right up my alley! I was surprised to see a 12 min cool down, too!

I have been so busy this weekend, but I want to watch the other workouts, too. We got the blu ray, so it is nice it is all on three discs.

The total body workout and ab ripper is no joke. If you don't have bands get them. If you are lacking upper body strength there is a pull up move in total body that will challenge that. I ordered bands and the chin up assist last night from Amazon.

Yoga is only 67 minutes. After I do One on One Yoga tonight I am going to check out the rest of the DVD's to see what I am in for.

    So far looks pretty good.

I would have to force myself to follow along with the auto scheduler on the Beachbody site. I'm supposed to be visiting my dad while he's in Vegas during the middle of January, so that may throw me off.

So far we watched some of the recovery workout. I'm ordering an extra foam roller (it has to be in purple).

Taking the week off seems to have helped my knee. I am going to foam roll tonight too and see if that helps further. I think though I am going to stick to One on One Yoga for tonight for the flexibility and relaxation.

    :)

The times look pretty similar to the first, except yoga being shorter, wonderful!
