BP Question

Has anyone noticed that their BP has gone up as they are going through menopause? Mine used to be quite low but has increased even though I'm eating healthier and exercising regularly. My dr said to just keep an eye on it (grocery store BP check stations) and let him know if it continues to be on the high side.

Oh, that must be frustrating for you! The natural expectation would be that a better diet and regular exercise reduce BP. I have not had this happen to me-yet. I hope your situation doesn't get to the point where the doc thinks you need medication. Hmm, will have to check come of stinky Mary's references to see what they say about this. BP wasn't on my radar and maybe it should be.

My bp has risen slightly since menopause. Dr put me on a water pill that seems to do the job, but since I started excercising and lost some weight there's been no further change, a little frustrating.

I didn't really notice a big increase, nor did my MD, but everyone's body is different. I think it is good advice to watch your BP. I would not stop exercising. You are making positive changes to your lifestyle. They may in fact be helping a problem you did not know existed. Good Luck!

Not for me Mary- I actually have been on blood pressure meds for the last ten years - more as a migraine preventative than blood pressure as my BP was at the high end of normal. Since losing weight and increasing exercise my blood pressure dropped so low that I had to come off the meds. So many factors come into play here like genetics, stress and so many other things.
I hope it settles down soon for you.
