I did it today. I struggled, whereas I haven't struggled at all this far. I've been doing it at 5.0 on the treadmill at a 1% incline, but I'm wondering now if I should lower my speed a little. I may need to repeat this week. Any advice guys? I'm 5 ft 2 so I can't go fast. 4.5 feels too slow. But is 4.7 and 5 that much different?

Assuming you're going through the program for the first time & working towards completing a 5k straight through without walking, you can run/jog at any pace you feel comfortable with. You goal is to build your endurance.

I'm going through it for the 2nd time with a goal of completing 5k at a minimum of 6 mph & I'm going to have to repeat Week 3 because I'm struggling with the 3 min intervals at that pace.

I'd say scrap the incline if you're struggling.
  • I'm doing Week 3, Day 1 today. I usually go between 6.0 and 6.8, and my walks are at 4.0. I find that if I try to run at anything less than 6, I trip over my own feet.
I would try doing it flat for now, see if that changes anything.

Why not put the treadmill at 4.7 next time and then back up to 5 for the last run?
By the way, why can't you go fast if you're 5'2"?

Can't go fast because my legs are only 24 inches long, and they only move but so fast before I'm flailing.

I tried it at 4.8 and got through it, but I'm going to repeat week 4. I just started doing 5 and was comfortable with it until I got to this week. Hopefully the 4.8 works out. I was doing the incline because I have a 5k in March and have heard from a few people that making it on an incline feels more like running outside, but I haven't done that to see.
