I have problems with my knee from time to time. I finally went to the doctor today and came out with this diagnosis. I have googled it and and the articles read as if I had done a bio about myself! Right down to flat foot (had to wear special shoes growing up and still wear supportive arches in footwear), ballet, and starting in my teen years! Chondromalacia patella. It is evidently much more common than I realized.

Happy to finally know.

I think when I get back the MD is going to prescribe PT.

Good news...no surgery needed. Bad news...no real "cure".

I wish I had not taken so long to find out what was wrong with me.

Even though no one seems to be reading this, I wanted to follow up. I went on vacation and walked all over San Francisco, Hollywood, and LA. I hiked the rugged hills of Sedona, Muir Woods and some in the Grand Canyon. I walked beaches and climbed hills...and all without pulling my knee. The answer was the knee braces that I bought that are designed for this. They were so simple, too. I 1 inch band that pulls tight just under the knee cap. Wonderful!!!
