Hello i just ordered this book im interested... I was wondering if there are anyone out there who have actualy started losing fat on the program. I just started looking into the weight lifting to try and lose fat and get muscle. i lost 70 pounds in my20 and kept it off til here recently i did a lot of cardio then. I tried the same approach this time but not seeing the pants get smaller or the scale move at all. I need a different approach, i think im not the same as 20 Im thinking okay i have lost some muscle mass so one way to fix it is to lift.

So any success stories would be so helpful for me!! Report

I'm only one week in, so I can't say too much, but what I can say is this:

I've always been an athlete (former gymnast and competitive softball player) but I could never lose enough fat to look "cut." I often exercised 5-6 hours a day, and for some reason still had a belly. When I got too old to keep playing sports, I started going to a gym, using some machiene weights with cardio, and that wasn't doing it either. So finally a signed up for a for a few personal training sessions with a young man, and he taught me all about lifting. Finally, for the first time in my life, I had abs, I got compliments on my shapely legs, etc. In my opinion, weight lifting is the ONLY way for women to sculpt their bodies (unless you just happen to be blessed with really good genes and look like a super model doing nothing).

Lots and lots of cardio doesn't work as well because you're only burning while you're doing the cardio. When your muscles get stronger, they actually consume more calories when your just sitting around. With weight training, we actually increase our metabolism, and this is what helps promote more fat loss.

Thanks i was thinking it may be better since im 42 and losing muscle that maybe if i lift more and not as much cardio i may be able to lose something. I lost in my 20's but I really did mostly cardio, but that is not working now so i thought a game change is in order

Definitely. I think you're making a wise decision. Check back once you get started and let us know what kind of results you're getting.
