Recent Surgery prompts desire to change in 2012!

Hello everyone!
I'm brand new to myfitnesspal and was poking around the groups and was pleasantly surprised to find this one! I was recently diagnosed with endo but have had YEARS of problems and misdiagnoses. It was actually a relief to know what the problem was and what needed to be done.
I had laparascopic surgery 2 weeks ago and it was a roller coaster of emotions. The battle is not over as I am due to get a lupron injection tomorrow which will be essentially putting my body into menopause for a few months to allow my body the opportunity to recover a bit. If anybody has gone through this i'd be interested to hear your stories!
For the longest time I thought I never wanted to have children but this experience has changed me. My husband and I have determined we DO want kids and i'd like to use 2012 as the year I get on track towards that goal. Part of it is making sure my endo is treated appropriately but the other half of this is transitioning to a healthier lifestyle with better nutrition choices. This includes eating right and exercising.
So for me it's not about fitting into a bikini (though that is a pleasant side effect) it's more about getting my body as healthy as possible to carry a child in the next couple of years.
VERY HAPPY TO MEET ALL OF YOU AND REALIZE OUR NUTRITION GOALS TOGETHER IN 2012! #POSITIVETHINKING

Hi, I just joined the group. My experience with endo is long and sordid. I have been struggling with endo since I was 16. I am now 42. My major symptom is PAIN.
I had another surgery 6 months ago. It has almost stopped the pain. For the first time in a long time. I would say in the past 6 months I have only had pain 3 days. I live in fear the pain will come back.
I did Lupron for 4 months. It worked for me. It stopped the pain. Just in time too because the pain was so bad I thought the only way to stop it would be to jump off a bridge.( Sorry don't mean to freak anyone out!)
Lupron made me gain 50 pounds in 4 weeks. I was so fat, miserable and gross. But I was pain free.
Endometriosis is so hard to live with. We all deserve a medal for maintaining our lives, jobs, family. Other people don't understand how rough endo is.
I have years of endo experience. If any one has any questions please ask me. I might be able to help. At least I will try.
desyflame, did I answer your question about Luoron?
I know a gifted endometriosis surgeon in Washington State if any one needs a name.0 -
Hi there,
I am on my 7th lupron treatment, and I am happy to report no weight gain. Now, I've eating well and exercised constantly so much that if I wasn't on Lupron I would probably be at my goal weight right now.
I have gone through misdiagnosis too, from bowel disease to IBS, everything but Endometriosis. I researched my condition and changed doctors 3x before I got to see the best specialist in this province and demanded the exploratory surgery. I told her I had Endo and she said well i can do what ever you wish. She was hoping to Zap it if it was there, but unfortunately, it was stage 4 and my bowel is in such bad shape that it's entertwined with my ovaries, and I had 3 cysts on both ovaries over 7cm. She couldn't see them by going in, it was seen with a pelvic ultrasound (internal). So anyway's, She told me the only treatment would be lupron. A hysterectomy was a very risky surgery as they would have to cut away my bowel and anything else that was effected.
I was so scared to do the treatments after researching online of all the side effects. The gynie told me not to google the drug as it would only show negative, but you know I had to. I went ahead with it, and it was rough the first 3 months. but now, I have no pain, no periods, just mood swings. I have another 2 treatments to go, then she will reasess again. I did have a follow up pelvic ultrasound done 2 months ago and the cysts have decreased to 2.2 from over 7cm. I was estatic.
I hope this helps you, I hate seeing so many negative responses of weight gain from lupron, I know everyone is different but if you continue with your healthy eating and exercising there will be minimal or no weight gain. If you don't treat it, it may get even worse and you could get the same report as I did.
Good luck and please keep me posted on your results. I hope you feel better and I will keep you in my thoughts.
Lets beat this awful disease and kick it out the back door.0
