OH MY... I am feeling it! I had a little bit of encouragement, my son was trying to do it with me and every time I would gasp out, "ITS HARD" he would say, "Its not hard mum, she said its not hard"
I did find the hardest part was abs. I was really pushing the 5 second rest stops!
keep shredding: )

Mine has come in the mail yet so I'm going to do 'no more trouble zones' tonight in replacement. Just wondering how to log the calorie burning in your exercise journal?0
-
Finished mine as well, it wasn't as hard as I remember it being the last time I did it, so I must be getting fitter, woo! I used 5 pound weights and found that they were way too light for some of the moves, but were really making others burn... Hope everyone has a successful day 1!!
Oh, Missjilly, I think most people log it as circuit training.. or if you use a hrm you can add a workout to the database....0 -
It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, especially the cardio, that was a breeze. I used 3 pound weights, I probably could use 5 and be ok! That being said, I think I will be feeling sore for the next few days! lol0

Day one.... complete :-D0

Can't find my shred DVD, so I'm doing 6 week 6 pack until I find it. I'm sore, but feeling good!0

I was super excited to get started today...I never realised how much up and down it was gonna be though! With a back and knee injury, floor then standing then floor then stand...it's gets a little tough on my joints, but I stuck with it. Sometimes I substituted the jumping jacks and butt kicks for other cardio moves so I wouldn't jar my back and knee, but I made it through! Barely! lol.
I feel really bad right now, because I could barely do the girl pushups. I managed about 18 of them, then I had to get creative and use the arm weights to push my arms in other ways while they finished. I feel so weak right now! I can not wait to see where I am 30 to 60 days from now! I know you gotta start somewhere, but I just feel so sad that level 1 was so challenging for me!
PLEASE tell me I am not the only one who couldn't complete all the girl push ups!
My HRM said I burned around 261 calories including warm up and cool down... This sounds a little low to me, where at the gym I average about 10 to 12 calories a minute when I am doing cardio and strength training....Anyone else have similar results since most of us are similar in size and heigth?0 -
I did both Level 1 of the shred and level one of the Ripped in 30...I used 5 & 8 lb weights cause I've been doing the Bob Harper inside out method DVD's for a while - but despite the fact I can use a higher weight I still suck at push-ups...can barely do the "girl" push-ups - so yeah, I hear you bunnee!! :blushing: And 261 was probably about right cause I burned 443 in an hour of Jillian torture....(and I seriously started pooping out in the last 10 minutes or so....) :ohwell:0

lol I was on my knees doing the girl pushups too and couldn't complete them, so no you're not alone!! lol but we will get stronger!! And my hrm said 220 something including the warm up and cool-down, so it sounds about right to me as well... my heart rate went down drastically during the ab work like it took me out of my zone, so maybe that's why the burn is a little less than doing cardio at the gym...0 -
Bunnee - you're NOT the only one!! I confess, I began to take a little extra time between girly pushups at the end, and I lost my form a bit... but I KNOW it will get better - just takes a bit of time and "pushing through..." HAHaaa! We can do this!!0

Finished Day 1- got a lot start, today was my daughters first day back to school after Christmas break so I started today instead of yesterday. It was a lot tougher then I thought it would be. The push ups were also tough for me but i stuck it out for the most part. I am still sufferening from shin splints (at this point a few weeks later maybe some kind of stress fracture or somehtign I don't know may go see the doc about them, they dont hurt until I squat or jump) so the jumps were hard but I pushed through... It will be interesting to see where we all are and the end of this.
Side note... after pigging out for Christmas and then going to Paris for NYE I was sure I had gained wait.. I got on the scale this morning almost scared to look and was down 1.2 lbs! Not recording it till next MOnday though so hope to lose atleast 1 more this week! I guess all that running in the subway in paris and going up and down the stairs burned off all the alchol calories we consumed haha!
Keep it up everyone!0 -
the cardio was the worst for me. the strength and abs were a breeze.. in fact I think I might substitute the abs moves for something more intense, I must have a serious six pack under the flab. I could NOT keep up with the cardio at all.
is anyone NOT doing it every other day? I don't find I'm really sore today so I think I'm going to go ahead and do it today as well. My calves are the worse from the jumping jacks and butt kicks.0 -

I wasn't really feeling anything this morning either, so I decided to do it again today. I used 10 pound weights for some of the moves instead of my 5s. I'm already feeling a difference in upper body soreness....0 -
Wow, I am a sissy!! But I did it0
-
Well I have been on Level 1 for about 3 weeks now - getting through it all, but yes still doing the "girly" push-ups, and I am sure that my form leaves a little to be desired! I must be a sissy though, because my weights are 3 pounds each, and that is plenty for me
If we are doing the 30 Day Shred in 60 days, then I will be on Level 1 for 5 weeks - maybe by then I will have it perfected. It is like the 30DS on training wheels!
Anyways, Day #2
complete!!0 -
I did most of level one today -I don't know if I want to do anymore. Its basically 20 minutes of cardio/pumping tiny weights to exhaustion and I'm one of those people that doesn't like working to exhaustion.
By the way you are not a sissy for using 2-3 lbs, I was using 8s and for the first compound movement those were REALLY hard -- and I am someone who squats 40 and curls 30. But I do those things for 12 reps in probably about the same amount of time (meaning each rep is much slower).
The thing with weights is, the amount of weight you can lift 12 times is much lighter than the amount of weight you can lift 8 times, and I think she has you doing about 25 reps of those exercises? Maybe 30? Did anyone count? Anyway the amount of weight you can handle to 30 is going to be WAY smaller than the amount you can handle if you only did 10. Try it - grab some 8 lb weights and do the same motions but slower (whatever pace works for you). You'll be able to do at least one.
Plus there's no rest! So yeah - if you made it through the whole 30 seconds with 3 lbs you probably could do way heavier with less reps. so none of you are sissies, its just a tough workout.0 -
Day 2 - ouch! Just...ouch. It was a little easier, but I'm not sure I will ever be able to do a push up. I can hardly do the "girl" ones. I can only go down about two inches! lol. But it's better than nothing I guess. Maybe by the end I will have at least a little upper body strength... The dog is certainly enjoying it though. Everytime I do the ab work he is RIGHT up in my face. I may have to start putting him outside first. :laugh:0

Day 2 was way worse! I am so sore ahhhhhhh lol but I'm thinking of getting heavier hand weights because the 3lb aren't doing it for me. My chest and legs are sore but not arms.0

Hahaha MINE TOO! And for the Ab workouts I would crunch to one side only to have my pomchi licking my face and my Dachshund on the other side trying to get me to pet him with the hand behind my ear!! hahaha. They are definetely going outside or in another room during workouts. They are so cute it's too distracting! Hahaha0 -
I did day 2 yesterday and increased the weights, boy was I feeling it today! So sore! But it's such a great feeling!0

Wow, you got double-teamed! Mine was even trying to crawl under me when I was attempting push ups. He had plenty of room since I come nowhere close to the floor with my wimpy arms. Lol
( I forgot to hit "quote" instead of "reply", but this was supposed to be in response to chubbybunnee. )0
