New Year, Holidays are over, and I, for one, generally suffer from a letting down of vigilance in January... :ohwell: But not this year! With your help and support, I am determined to hit the ground running (well, not literally because I do not run, but I do walk and I've recently added hula hooping with a 3lb hoop). Does anyone else have this problem of letting up instead of cracking down in January? And then feeling all sad and depressed that all that hard work of resisting temptation and planning indulgences and keeping the scales relatively stable throughout the holidays has gone down the tubes in January? What do you do to keep your motivation going and achieve success rather than back-sliding? I could use all the tips and tricks I can get, as well as just some support and an occasional high five.

January in general is such a boring month. The weather sucks and where we live, we can't go out for a walk or anything. The holidays are over and after all the planning and build up, it's quiet a let down in itself! It really is hard to get motivated, but it sounds like you right on target with your exercise. In a way though, January is easier for me to not really think about food much. I've tired of all the holiday baking and cooking and really ready to get back to just basic and healthier food choices!

Good point. Though I don't eat normal junk food during the holidays because there are so many seasonal treats. And I'm tired of limiting my portions. History shows I tend to want larger or more frequent portions, and chips/munchies. If there is any candy left over from the holidays, I tend to want to eat it up too! But I'm going to remember that I AM tired of treats, treats, treats!

Feel the same here. I think some of it has to do with the shorter days and our bodies want to conserve energy for the long winter. :grumble: This is the first year that I'm not going to give up what I've started! I know it's a choice to make and it's much easier to just let things slide.
