Do any of you suffer w/ hives or extremely dry itchy skin due to your thyroid issues? I started breaking out in uncontrollable itching about 2-3 months after being diagnosed and starting the meds. It comes and goes, and right now I am having a really bad time with it and have scratched myself raw in places. Anyone else have this issue?

Dry skin is one of the normal side effects of hypothyroidism. The question is, is your itching from the hypothyroidism or a reaction to the meds? I've never heard of that type of med reaction from anyone else, but that doesn't mean it isn't possible. I'd say ask your pharmacist or google the med and try to find warnings from the manufacturer.

As to the itching, Oil of Olay makes a fantastic in the shower moisturizer. It's the only way my back can make it through the winter in one piece. Most large drugstores carry it - I get it at a local CVS.

Hives is one of the symptoms of hypothyroidism. There are many! Some of us have just a few of these:

Yep -- we live with these symptoms for so long that we start to think they are normal and usually don't connect them to hypo or Hashi! And most doctors will tell you it's in your mind, or your depressed, or it's menopause, or it's something else!!
