America's Fifty Best "Snack" foods. (Notice how not a single one is actual food).

This is what America is coming to. It's truly scary.

thanks for the post - it is pretty scary isn't it! People just got to smarten up and quit believing that fake foods are good food.

It reminds me of when I was a kid and Milky Way candy bars were advertised as "the good food" snack because as they pointed out....it had milk and eggs in it!!!! And, of course our moms bought them thinking it would give us good food and energy!

    AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

You know they have to keep all the big named companies making money............

It really pisses me off and makes me really sick.

The only thing even close to food is the Kind bars as they are all fruit, nuts and dates to sweeten. I have eaten those on occasion and actually keep a couple in the console in my car as an emergency just in case. A

Something like that should have been high up on that list and it was down at 47. <sigh>

Obesity is going to be so out of control, not to mention the diseases that come along with it from chronic inflammation in the body.

They just don't care what they are doing to people.

There is only a couple of items on that list that I would even use in an emergency (although I DID use several in the days before I discovered primal/paleo eating). My wife does use #47 - EAS AvantEdge protein shakes, but that is because she is a critical care RN and simply does not have time while on-shift to stop and have an actual meal.

I have to laugh that they only list nutritional info that is favorable to the product. Only ONE product listed carbs (#1, Tuna). Sodium is listed until you get to the beef jerky. Sugars are listed until you get to the peanut butters. Etc.

I've never liked Men's Health - they've always seemed to me to just be a shill for all of the supplements that advertise with them. Apparently they want to branch into mainstream health-junk food as well.

Remember: Whole foods, organically grown, simply prepared. Only a couple of items on that list even got close (Tuna and Fage yogurt).

We can't completely blame the companies here. If people stopped buying and consuming it, companies would stop making it. Education is the the first step. Desire is the second, and where many people fail. Most people know these things and Mcdonalds, etc. aren't particularly good for them. But they keep voting with their dollars anyway. I applaud everyone here working to make improvements in their lives and health!
