Using agave as a sweetener is a no-no

I was at a lecture yesterday given by Christina Pirello from the PBS show "Christina Cooks" and she said agave nectar (which I do have in my pantry) was even worse than high fructose corn syrup! Even though it is natural vs man made, it has 80% fructose vs. high fructose corn syrup which is 55 fructose%.

She said it is just one of the bill of goods we have been sold about natural foods. It is the residue of the agave cactus after they extract what ever it is to make tequila. She added that our bodies can process it in small amounts but in large amounts you could actually have liver damage.

There is so much to learn about food and what to eat and not eat - it can be overwhelming at times!

Glad I don't use it!! I only use Raw Stevia... it's pretty sweet and really has 0 carbs!
