Hi! I'm new to the Primal/Paleo lifestyle, but I am very excited. I have no problem giving up grains, but my troubles will be with eating veggies as I dislike them. BUT I am going to do it...just going to get creative and sneak the veggies in. I have always loved the idea of living a simple, healthy life, so much that me and my husband plan to buy a few acres and raise our own grass fed cattle, rabbits and chickens as well as have a kick butt garden. I have a little garden in my backyard now but I want a ton of berry bushes and a nicely stocked herb garden!
I do have a question though...is honey considered paleo/primal? I am trying to find ways to sweeten my green tea and such.

As to veggies, just do what I do...eat what you enjoy...sometimes I can just eat broccoli for dinners for weeks at a time, for salads I just do what I do like...baby spinach leaves, celery, cumcumber...0 -
Thanks! My problem is that as far as vegetables go, I like corn, green beans and sugar snap peas. Not much variety. BUT tonight I had a homemade vegetable beef soup and I tossed all kinds of veggies in it..carrots, bell peppers, onions, beets, snap peas, green beans, celery and at breakfast I had scrambled eggs and I stir fried some veggies and them mixed it into the eggs. It seems as long as I cook them with other stuff I like, I can eat them.0

You'll do fine, then. Soups, stews, salads, stir-frys and egg scrambles are all great ways to make mostly-vegetable dishes flavored with a protein. I seldom make a vegetable straight as a side dish (well, I guess cauliflower mash, brussels sprouts and broccoli), but I do buy whatever is in season and then figure out what to do with them. I am notorious in my family for 'Reefer Madness' Thursday, where I pull out whatever is left in the fridge and make some sort of hash-up out of it.
Also, you'll find that as you get the grains, carbs and sugars out of your system, your taste buds shift. You'll be able to detect sweetness in things that never seemed sweet before, and you may find yourself liking veg that wasn't tasty before. It really surprised me; I'm eating all sorts of things I wouldn't have touched a year ago.0
