Body water % concerns...

I posted this in the food and nutrition forum but think it got completely missed... so gonna hit you guys with it :)

Why is my body water % so low?

I drink between 8-10 glasses of water a day (8oz glasses) and also have a few decaff tea's and coffee's.

After using my scales this morning it showed that my Body Fat % was at 32% but my water % was only 45.2%.

From looking on the good old internet I found I should range between 49-52% of which I normally do! I certainly did when I was drinking less water :/

It's never been this low before, yet I have never drank this much water before either. I read that as your fat % decreases, you're water % should increase... but this isn't happening :(

I feel fine in myself so I'm not worried, I am just trying to understand what on earth is going on.

Don't worry...those scales are not at all accurate.

Hi Beckie, I can't claim to answer you r question but I can say that from my own experience that these scales are not to accurate. I used to have a scale that 'measured' % water and it didn't work for me. Mine had little sensors on the plate that measured the moisture in my feet when I stood on it. Now, I sleep in a very cool room with little blankets and no pj's. I don't like the heat when sleeping so when I got up and weighed myself the moisture level was really low. As soon as I had my shower, no matter how well I dried my feet, the machine said I was high.

If you are not experiencing dehydration then I wouldn't worry too much about it.
