Looking for feedback from people on a LCHF/Keto diet and who have hypothyroidism. How are you doing on the diet? Any success? Any improvement with symptoms? Good or Bad comments welcomed.

Thanks!

I initially lost weight on it, but not big-time like many people do... it was slow as my weight loss always is. Now I am stalled, but I have reverse T-3 issues I need to work through, so I don't blame that on the diet.

But my Naturopath looked at my food log and he agrees that I should be low carb - but he wants me off of dairy, eggs, cheese and a host of other foods. He also wants me to eat organic vegetables and meat -- he advised that in the past decade or so the farmers are using a lot of chemicals, hormones and antibiotics to make bigger/better produce and our bodies can't tolerate it.

So, I don' thave the answers, but I think LCHF is generally a good idea. And we know from "Why we get fat and what to do about it" but Gary Traube that LCHF is a healthy diet.

Just curious about what your Naturopath has to say about goitrogens and how they suppress the function of the thyroid gland. It is unfortunate that most of the veggies I like seem to be in that category :( Cooking the veggies helps but I often wonder how much better it is and if I cooked them enough.

One thing I do like is that saturated fat stimulate thyroid function and since being on Keto I have increased that a lot. I cook with coconut oil every day.
