I see that some of you use a heart rate monitor. I looked them up online last night and they can get quite expensive!! If you have one, does it have the chest strap? The cheaper ones are just like a watch and some reviewed that it didn't fit their wrist so they weren't getting proper readings (if any at all). Can you recommend a good one that is also affordable (preferably less than $50). Thanks!!

I ordered this one from Amazon that does have a chest strap. It hasn't arrived yet, but I can let you know once I try it!

I need to know this as well! I dont want to buy something so expensive that is not going to work right! Id hate to wear a chest strap every time I work out but if its what I have to do ill do it.

My order from Amazon wasn't going to be here until next Thursday or Friday, and I'm leaving on a trip on Thursday. So, I paid considerably more, but got the FT7 at Target. I'll be trying it out tonight!

Ok finished L1D5 wearing the monitor. It's SUPER comfy - couldn't even feel it at all. MFP is very accurate with the monitor. The entire workout was 28.5 minutes on the monitor which included warm up and cool down. It said I burned 314 calories. On MFP I was putting down 24 minutes and it was saying 292 or 294 so it seems right on.

I have the polar FT4 and it is great, shipped really fast, and yes it does have a chest strap..i have heard those r more accurate....i have bought so many exercise dvd's that u c on tv and my husband got so tired of it...anyway the HRM is the best thing that i have ever purchased!!! it is sooo worth $$....when i first got it, i would just jump around, dance around, whatever just to burn some cals so i wouldnt be over on my food diary....the chest strap is not in the way at all, it doesn't move around, u do have to wet it before u put it on....but i rec. them to everyone that is serious about losing weight..even trying to get my mom to get one...she walks a lot has a pedometer, but she would love a hrm!!! i got mine last year and it was around $80 from HRM USA....hope this helps:wink:

I ended up getting a watch one that was on sale at Kmart. I don't know the brand but it seems to work fine. I just really want it to see how close MFP calculates calories burned. Thanks for the input! If I get serious and really into it, I may look into a better one.
  • I have the Polar FT4 too and love it! It was on sale for around $60 on Amazon.

Those of you who use an HRM for level 2...how many calories do you burn?

I've been logging 30DS as a circuit training for 20 min and its only 215 cal. I'd like to be more accurate. I know a lot of your burn depends on your fitness level and weight. I'm at a moderate level and around 180 pounds....
