OH, i'm SOoo glad someone bumped this or posted on it again, i'd been LOOKING for this thread, and couldn't remember where i'd seen it. (searching for threads with "recipes" turns up 100s of threads, lol)
I wanted to investigate the other sites listed above. THANKS to whoever bumped this!!

    Here is one site, HERE
    >
    http://www.kraftrecipes.com/home.aspx
which i LOVE, but, i suspect the healthnuts among us will scoff,
    BUT,
    this site has several features,
like ways to find recipes by typing in what ingredients you have, in the feature called
    "Use What's On Hand"
    so so handy.

IT ALSO LISTS THE CALORIES AND NUTRITIONAL VALUE OF EACH RECIPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

See, this Kraft.com site tends to have recipes with a fairly limited ingredient list, most of which many of us might have in our kitchens already. Just plain ordinary ingredients.
Sure, it's fun to google exotic ingredients, try to find where to buy them, and fun to make elaborate recipes with 8 steps and 20 ingredients.
    BUT
for just every day use, i like Kraftrecipe.com. It has seasonal recipes, party recipes, etc
and lots and lots of ways to sort recipes, like "low budget recipes" "fast and easy" etc etc.

It also has a section for lower calorie recipes, HERE
    >
    http://www.kraftrecipes.com/healthy-living-ideas/main.aspx

and i often tweak some of the 'normal' recipes a bit to lower the calories anyway.
It's GREAT to read the reviews under each recipe, prior to making it, so if, like 20 people say "don't cook it for 15 minutes, only cook it for 10 minutes" or "leave out the so&so ingredient, it's better that way" or "this was too bland, so i added garlic and it was tastier" or whatever.
SO, reading the reviews can be helpful, sometimes.

anyway, as someone on a budget, Kraftrecipe.com is my first "go to" recipe site, and it's a rare day when i can not find what i am looking for on it.

Two sites I visit regularly are

    www.veggienumnum.com

    and

    www.meatlessmondays.com

My family are omnivores but I'm trying to introduce the Meatless Monday practice into our house. Seems to be working.

You do not need to join to view the recipes, low cal, carb, fat and much more!

    www.fatsecret.com

This one is especially good to see any kind of food, what is considered as a serving, etc... Take for instance chicken breast (skin not eaten):

There are 123 calories in a 1/2 small Chicken Breast (Skin Not Eaten).
Calorie breakdown: 21% fat, 0% carbs, 79% protein.
    Common serving sizes:
    Serving Size Calories
    1 thin slice (approx 2" x 1-1/2" x 1/8") 11
    1 medium slice (approx 2" x 1-1/2" x 1/4") 23
1 oz, with bone (yield after cooking, bone and skin removed) 23
1 oz, with bone raw, without skin (yield after cooking, bone removed) 25
1 oz boneless (yield after cooking, skin removed) 26
1 cubic inch boneless, cooked, skin removed 28
1 oz boneless, raw, without skin (yield after cooking) 30
    1 thick slice (approx 2" x 1-1/2" x 3/8") 34
1 oz, with bone cooked (yield after bone and skin removed) 34
1 oz, with bone cooked, without skin (yield after bone removed) 38
1 oz boneless, cooked (yield after skin removed) 43
1 oz boneless, cooked, skinless 46
1/2 small (yield after cooking, bone and skin removed) 123
1/2 medium (yield after cooking, bone and skin removed) 141
1/2 large (yield after cooking, bone and skin removed) 161
    100 g 164
    1 cup cooked, diced 221

    Very nice!
