I initially lost my weight doing Atkins and then came the pregnancy...now I am trying again. Restarted it on January 23 and have been able to come back off the insulins. I'm curious to know if anyone else is using Atkins to change their habits?

Hi MommyofSeven, I'm a mother of seven too! Wanted to say hi.

I've never tried the Atkin's diet. I understand it goes against the good old "food pyramid". I've always had success following the food pyramid and taking the carbs down a notch and exercising to lose weight.

    Good luck!

I was very successful on Atkins years back. I lost 30 pounds. It might have something to do with me being unemployed at the time; I was very stressed (luckily it was just for one month). The weight did come back when I was rehired into a new position and started eating out again. Now, years later and much heavier, I am trying it again. It's harder now that I am married because my husband just cooked some mashed potatoes with dinner. He forgot that I am going low-carb. It's like asking an alcoholic if they would like a drink.
  • I am doing great with this eating plan. My body seems to really be made for it. My hardest time for eating differently than others is at work. Everyone seems to be eating fast food! My husband is very supportive, we cook carbs for everyone except me. I weigh my proteins, measure my veggies...and my two year old is forever trying to give me her "noonals and cookies".
I took myhubby to Universal for his birthday and, let me tell you, the choices for Atkin's planners are slim!
  • Hello fellow mom of seven! Thanks for the words of encouragement and good luck for your goals as well!
