Try going to www.whyquit.com and downloading Joel Spitzer's free ebook called Never Take Another Puff. This really helped me quit.0

Try Allan Carr's book "The EasyWay to Quit Smoking". Not free, but the best investment I ever made - I've been smoke-free for 23 days now, and I feel great, and it was relatively easy after the first 4-5 days. I bought it after reading a bunch of testimonials here on MFP from former smokers. It really works for a lot of people.0

A Carr's book 100%! I'm 38 days as a non-smoker and my sister is 45 days, thanks to the book. I've bought another copy because my smoking friends keep asking to borrow it ! It has been easy; I even went camping two weeks ago with a bunch of of smokers and sat out all night drinking around the campfire. Didn't even bother me..no cravings..nothing ! I got mine on Amazon for $8 or so..GOOD LUCK!!0

You should download BOTH books. And sign up at quitnet.com. That was a HUGE help for me. Also look into any aides that you can think of. Gum, patches, Chantix.. you should do WHATEVER you can to quit. I used Chantix and it was a big help the first couple of months.
I prefered Carr's book of the two, but you never know what sentence is going to flip the switch in your brain. So read as many as possible. Oddly enough it was a diet book that convinced me to quit. There was this book by a guy oprah had used several years ago- I can't even remember his name. Something like Best Life Diet, I think. Anyway a little ways in he mentions that quitting smoking is the SINGLE most important thing you can do to live healthy. And that if you had to choose to do one or the other- choose to quit smoking first. THEN lose weight. For some reason that just struck a chord with me. LOL
Weird, huh?0
