A week without my scale. ;)

I post because I am confessing that I decided not to weigh myself this week.
Trust me, I know what you are already formulating in your head to say.
I have gotten into a daily weighing habit. It actually has been working just fine, because it does reinforce ( positive and negatively) the choices I make daily with my food.
If I go out to dinner with friends, and still behave, but maybe have a second glass of wine and maybe my steak comes with a demiglaze that I can't exactly identify, I notice it can take 2-3 days to go back to dropping on the scale.

I have been pretty consistent at stopping 3 lbs a week even if I go out.

So, anyway, this week I am snow skiing with family and friends. There are evenings out, wine, beer, happy hours, lunch at the ski lodge and some late nights. Everyone is quite aware of my lifestyle choice - it was easy discussion once they all said "whoa, you lost how much since Christmas?".

So I am eating what I normally do, but having one drink a day. My dinners are coming from a restaurant but I make my breakfast each morning while they go to Starbucks and get a scone and vanilla latte for energy.
For lunch, I did order a bunless burger and got plenty of funny looks.

I haven't been able to be perfect but I have held firm on the numerous offers for bread, crackers.
But the thing I'm thnking about the most is the fact that I'm not able to see how I'm doing until I return home this weekend.
So when I wake up Saturday morning I will either have list weight or stayed the same. And the not knowing is killing me.
I'm crossing my fingers that my weight is good so it will reinforce that I can actually transition into the real world after I reach mt goal weight.

  • Don't stress!! Enjoy the holiday...life happens, and while this kind of eating should be a lifestyle change, life does happen sometimes!!

I only weigh in once a month. It's mainly because though I want to lose a bit of weight, I hated that I always felt like I was 'eating for the scale'. Weighing once a month seems to keep me relaxed and realistic about food.

So...don't worry!! Have a great time, and just get back in the swing when you're back in real life! :)

    Thanks.
I skied and ate out dinner each night. My family and friends were curious I wouldn't eat bread, but the jealous I cooked myself bacon and eggs in the bacon grease every morning.
Had some wine and beer but not what I used to. Came home 2 lbs lighter (also not what normally happens on vacation for me:)
