At what point did the weight start to come back on? Or for those of you in maintenance, how long have you maintained your loss? I am so fearful of regaining. I know I need to stay on top of things so I don't slip up. 3 pounds abopve my goal is my self-imposed limit right now. My RNY was 3.5 years ago and I've been maintaining my loss for 2.5 years now.

I got down to my lowest weight at about 10.5 months out. I bounced back a few pounds from that and maintained that for a year. Then I decided I wanted more muscles and deliberately gained 5 pounds (of muscle). It was kind of scary to deliberately gain but I looked awesome and my clothes fit better.
Then I crashed my bike and couldn't work out and gained 5 pound over night. Oops. This was at around 3 years out.
I got a handle on that, lost 4 of them, and now I'm in a holding pattern until my brain heals and I can work out again. Since I've lost all my nice muscles, my goal as soon as I can work out is to do a bunch of heavy strength training and put them all back on!0 -
Good for you. I'm trying to gain muscle, too. I am now 8 months out from plastic surgery. The first few months I was too scared to do anything, then I'll admit I got lazy, now I'm back on my fitness track.0

Well, I've been at this almost eleven years and yep, I've had a few regains.....THREE to be exact. They have primarily been associated with stressful periods in my life (death of my Mother, a cross country move); during those times, I tried to forget I had WLS, tried to act like a "normal person", and stopped visiting my online support sites. All three times I gained between 20 and 30 pounds. Luckily for me, when I go back to my "normal" routines of eating and visiting my online support sites I am able to drop the weight pretty easily and maintain it while eating pretty much EVERYTHING....just not all at one time OR in excessive amounts. My maintenance calorie limit is pretty high, too....between 1800 and 2200 calories per day.0
