Internet dating is killing my self esteem

Speaking of serial daters, I noticed the SAME GIRLS that were on match.com over 9 months ago when I was on it are still on there. A lot of these girls are attractive and it's hard to believe they still haven't found anyone.
I've noticed the same guys on there who were there 2 years ago when I first tried Match. And they haven't updated their pictures or profiles. I called one guy out for having an old picture- because it was timestamped 2008.0 -
I've had a bad experience on POF too, I was having a general chit chat with a lady (who really wasn't for me but I was being nice) I was talking about me ex.... and then she said "oh I'm sorry I don't mean to sound shallow but I need a man with a house and a car" and then stopped talking to me.... Whoah that really helped my esteem issues lol BUT I am having a drink with a lady I met on there tonight, fingers crossed for me .0

I'm fairly new to the online dating sites so I have a question. I can kind of weed out the ones who send me messages that are obviously "cut and paste" messages that they most likely send to everyone. The ones I can't figure out are the ones who send me their personal email addresses and ask me to message them there. Is there something to this?0

I would imagine that is because they have a free offer to subscribe for a weekend or week or thier subscription is coming to an end?
If its a free site, I dunno! Perhaps they want to delete their profile?
In any case, I dont think a personal email address is harmful. Just set up a web based email yourself that you can shut down if necessary. :flowerforyou:0 -

Some of them could be scammers just trying to get some email addresses. I'd usually steer clear unless they mention something that proves they actually read my profile, their subscription is ending soon, or they just don't like the dating site email. But if they're weird about it I just ignore them.0 -
Dang, I thought the internet thing was going to be an easier option down the road when I was ready to start trying to meet people. I'm too awkward irl, hopefully it's not as bad as the image I now have in my head.
I have the same problem. I'm screwed either way. Or rather, not...but anyway!
I figure, I need to live somewhere I can get a cab when I drink (this craphole even fails at that), I'm pretty damn social when I drink. Otherwise, you'll find me in the corner, trying to blend in with the table.0
