I would really love to join this group. I turn 40 on May 12 and am going to Vega in June. I am only 5'0 and seem to get stuck once I hit 125. my goal is 115 and to lose my muffin top. I have no problem working out but eating is an issue. I've come to realize that I don't think I should be eating my exercise calories. starting this week I am going to try and eat just my 1200 cal. It's going to be super hard but I really want look Fabulous @ 40.

I think I also do better if I do not eat my exercise calories! Veggies are very low in calories so eating lots of those makes it possible to feel like you're eating more. I have to be VERY strict with myself or I fall right off the wagon. Like you, I have no problem with exercise. I crave it and enjoy pushing myself, but I also LOVE to eat. And eat and eat and eat!

And also.......our bodies are all different and have different needs. Being a woman at 5'0" you may not need more than 1200 cal.

Once I hit 42 or so, I noticed that my metabolism slowed as well. So I am in the same spot-kinda' stuck and unable to drop these 20 lbs. I have a hard time cutting back on the food-I try to eat 6x/day and stay within my caloric intake which includes my exercise calories.

Does anyone know much about "muscle memory"? The idea behind it is that when you do the same type of exercise again and again, like running, walking, elliptical, etc., your muscles don't have to work as hard as they originally did because they are accustomed to the activity. So, since your muscles don't have to work as hard, you don't burn so many calories. I am not sure how scientific this is, but it kinda' makes sense.

I run at least 4x/week. I am going to try to change up my routine by adding some intervals and doing one long run/week. If I can swing it time-wise, I am also going to try to add weight training 2x/week.

    Good luck!!
