Hi, I am looking forward to starting my foray into the Primal lifestyle and my husband and I will be starting Saturday. I am looking forward to being healthier and especially to increased energy. I am always so tired. How long before I see results regarding increased energy?
Btw I am doing my first "Primal" grocery shopping trip on Friday and was wondering what is one Primal-friendly food item you cannot live without?

    Hello and welcome.
I've been doing primal for just over a week and I currently feel crappy and have a huge headache. Hopefully I'll feel better soon. :) It seems that the time before you feel great varies between a couple of days and a couple of weeks.

My must haves for me so far:
bacon, egg, and sausage for breakfast
pork skins and nuts for snacks (I like the crunch)
lots of veggies and different meats so its easy to figure out a meal without grabbing some carbs from the pantry.
I also bring more food than I think I need to work so I'm not tempted by the junk food vending machine

my primal shopping (I go every couple days for freshness) list always includes
eggs (please get a cage free organic - I promise they taste better)
bacon (please get from the butcher - thick cut without nitrates)
a really good piece of steak from the butcher - not prewrapped in the case
a container of organic salad greens.
a red, orange, yellow pepper (again organic)
    an avocado
    grass fed butter
a bar of dark dark organic chocolate

bozmo - I hope this passes - I have heard of the "flu" but didn't experience any myself. All I know is I felt like a friggin rockstar about 3 weeks in.

Primal foods I cant live without:
    BACON!
Eggs ( I buy 5 dozen at a time because I eat love them)
Coconut oil (I prefer the taste of it to olive oil and its better for you)
Spices (Too many to name that I couldn't live without)
    Kale i love kale chips.
    Good cheese

Some tips I learned when I originally went primal. Don't worry about your carb intake your first 2-3 weeks I actually ate plenty of sweet potatoes and tubers intentionally to avoid the carb flu. If you drink soda I'd recommend quitting that a few day before you jump into primal

I started feeling increased energy after maybe a week and didn't experience any carb or sugar withdrawals.
My must haves are eggs, dark chocolate, tomato sauce made from primal ingredients, spaghetti squash, cauliflower, and meat (whatever is on sale)
