How much do you guys eat a day to see a successful weight loss?
I've been eating (not netting), 1200 calories a day since I started this in May, which was fine and it worked, but I haven't really lost since September (I've lost, then gained, then lost, then gained etc), so I'm starting to get frustrated. I thought that when I got started on my tablets they'd ramp up my metabolism and help me start loosing again. I haven't been on them long, just over 7 weeks, I wasn't expecting miracles or anything, but just something. I've had a blood test to check my levels and I find out on Thursday if I stay at 50mg Levo a day, or if I have to go up to a stronger dosage. But, I was just wondering, do I need to eat more in order to help the tablets give my metabolism a boost? And if so, how much do you guys eat to reach a consistent loss? I've tried eating back exercise calories once before (this was before I started treatment), and I just gained like crazy, and I'm scared that will happen again
I was thinking if I up my calories to 1300 a day as a start and see what happened? Just wondered if anyone has had any experience of this and how they over came it? It's just getting frustrating now

MFP put my goal at about 1350 calories when I first started, and things went well for about 6 months. Then, I updated my goals with my new weight and MFP put me at 1200 calories. Within a couple weeks I began a plateau. I "shocked" it by eating high calories for a couple of days, and that helped me to lose another couple pounds, but then I plateaued again. So, I decided to up my calories back to 1350 and that started me losing again. So, for me personally, 1200 calories is too few. I'd say go up to 1300 a day and avoid the scale for one week and see if that helps. Everyone is slightly different, so it's hard to tell until you try. Good luck!0

MFP has my base calories set at 1580 per day. I burn about 700 calories doing 1 hour of Zumba every day, and I only eat about half of those back - so I eat about 1800-1900 calories every day unless I take a rest day. So far, since I started this mid January, I've successfully been able to lose 1-2 pounds per week.
But then, everyone is different - and until my thyroid meds were optimized, I was totally unable to lose anything no matter what I tried.0 -
Thanks for the input guys! I reckon I'll start trying for 1300 a day and see where that gets me, and then speak to my dr next week when I get my blood test results back, see what she makes of it all Hopefully they'll get my meds sorted out soon enough so that I can actually start loosing weight again!0

Two week ago Friday I went and had a resting metabolic rate test. MY RMR is 1400 calories - the sports medicine doctor added 100 caloires which it takes to burn what you eat.
She told me to lose a pound a week, I have to create a 500 calorie deficit each day. She said to never go below 1200 calories. So, my options are to reduce calories by 250 calories and exercise to burn 250 calories OR if I want to eat more to exercise and eat back my calories as suggested in MFP.
Last week I started a new job and so my whole schedule got turned around and I need to figure out my new normal.0
