About Nutrition

Hypo/Hashi friends -- I know I am a little er, how should I say it... outspoken on this forum. I have my diary closed right now so not to upset anyone -- I am working with my M.D. and my Naturopath on a very low calorie diet and I don't want to upset anyone -- but I am only eating "clean" food.
I cannot say enough about Nutrition -- I'm older than most of you and spent most of my life eating whatever I wanted. I have never been an over-eater, but I only ate what I love. That didn't really include fruit and veggies most of the time.
I look at people's diaries and I am amazed to find day after day after day of food logging without any fruit or vegetables!!
They are eating under their calorie goal, but their bodies must be starving for NUTRIENTS. Then they go and workout like demons, but don't give their body the proper fuel to do what is being asked of it. It's really dangerous, and our bodies will fight back.
Please do what you can to eat clean, organic, wholesome food -- your body cannot deal with the preservatives, hormones, antibiotics, sodium and other junk that is in most of the food out there.
I didn't figure this out on my own -- I had 60 years of eating behind me -- a good Naturopath and I also read "Eat To Live" book. His diet is vegan and does contain quite a bit of soy -- it's not completely for me, but I combined much of his concepts with lean meat (all natural) as my protein. If you treat your body right, it will reward you and you will have more energy even though you are fighting with thyroid disease.
Ok - forgive me -- off my soapbox now!
Terri

I totally understand. I don't log my food anymore, but I still pay attention to what I eat. There is so much more to the way I feel and how my body responds than just the number of calories.0

I live in California where I can get fresh fruits and vegetables all of the time. If I had to eat canned or frozen I probably would not eat the same. I am lucky. Ate some yummy asparagus fresh from the farmers market. Fresh oranges from the grove, just picked a few days ago....what a difference.0

3) no more puffy face
I dont expect to drop a bunch of weight but I want to be healthy and nutrition is the KEY especially when you have hypothyroid!
I live where I can get good veggies and fruits (florida) but if I didnt I would have to buy them frozen or canned because I love them!0
