Shoes

Just figured I would ask here since most can probably relate, but what kind of shoes do you wear to exercise? I am looking into investing in some GOOD shoes that will be able to handle my weight plus last a good while. My mom, when she was 330+, was wearing SAS San Antonio Shoes and they were really good and lasted a while. Anyone have suggestions?

I recommend good shoes, but don't spend too much because you're going to wear them out fast. I just bought 2 new pairs when they went on sale. Spent about $175 for both.

I like NIke or New Balance. Just bought a pair of Nike's over the weekend, love them!

Thanks everyone! We have limited choices where I live so this weekend while I'm in San Antonio I am going to hit up several places. Just need some new shoes. I have been wearing my Sketchers non-slip work shoes, which have amazingly lasted me about 2 years (good for my weight and wear and tear!) and are still pretty comfy for walking but it's time for some new ones!

If you're heavy then Brooks Beast are a good, very supportive shoe.
For running I always get fitted at a specialist running shop, they analyse the way you run and suggest suitable shoes.
I'm fortunate, I have slim feet albeit a size 9.5(UK) , have good arches and don't need heavy, supportive trainers. I wear Asics in the gym and Saucony for running.

I went for the Saucony brand, they seemed to have the extra springy cushion I am looking for. I hope that these 60 dollar shoes will last though! lol. If not I am thinking of New Balance next for sure. I didn't see any with as much cushion though, so that's why I opted for Saucony. They are mens too since my feet are so massive. Very comfy though. I put them on and my boyfriend had to tell me to slow down because I was walking so fast I was leaving him behind! lol

I have large feet (11W to 12W) and need support because of back issues. I have worn and liked Nike in the past but currently boycott the brand due to their choice of "endorsers". I haven't found a good pair of Nike's in a long time anyway. For a few years now, I've had very good luck with Asics in fit and comfort. The men's shoes seem to last longer than the women's actually. New Balance weren't bad (but limited designs I like- and mostly I would wear the men's). Saucony wasn't supportive enough and were a bit narrow for me. Sketchers weren't supportive at all for more than a few wears- incredibly flat! SAS was a brand my mom swore by and most of the styles remind me of nurses shoes- which makes sense- because they need comfortable shoes; but I found most of the styles "mature" for my taste and a little pricey.
