Hey Primal/Paleo Buddies,

I have a question about your opinions on the number of grams of carbs I should eat for fat loss. I was trying to stay below 50, but it seems like I have to cut out my regular amount of veggies to stay below that. What has worked for you?

P.S. if you look at my diary, please disregard yesterday. I was feeling a bit low and binged on not-so-good things, as for the rest of this week, I decided to add dairy fyi.

Check out this link from MDA. For weight loss, between 50g-100g of carbs is ideal.

I have my carbs set to about 80 a day...the past two weeks I have been trying to stay under that and have hit it most days - some days as low as 55 others higher at about 75 or so...I am almost done with a 30 day strict Paleo but I am going to continue it for a bit more since I do have some weight to loose.

In order to do that I had to really limit my fruit sources for now...sticking with mainly berries and not everyday...and snacking on things like cucumber, red pepper strips, avocado, homemade deer jerky - my diary is open if you want to take a look....

I may have a few extra nuts or a strip of jerky or a handful of baby carots that don't get recorded from time to time and I am pretty crappy about recording my full water (drink at least 9 glasses a day up to 15 on my workout days)...but it should give you a basic gist...

Why are you trying to stay below 50gms? Are you trying to achieve ketosis? Primal/paleo isnt necessarily very low or low carb. If you haven't read the info at the link posted above, you should, it's a good read.

Well if ketosis means I'm buring fat than yes. My main goal is to burn excess fat.

Let me ask a question...according to you scale down there you want to lose 20 lbs and get to 125 - just want to say your body itself may not let you get to 125...

I ask this because I have had a body fat analysis done...my lean body mass was calculated out at 133...so I have used that number to come up with a number I should probably be at for my body type and composition...

I am assuming you are working out as well - you may find that while the scale doesn't go down as fast as you want it but you would still be burning fat...
