finding it a little overwhelming trying to get in my fluids and proteins right now. Also I do not like the taste of the pain med and it was suggested to try Children's Liquid Tylenol, but sugar free and I am not having any luck on that. I would welcome any and all suggestions. Just had my RNY on Tuesday. Extrememly tired right now, but I keep moving and that helps me a lot.

the pain med is awful awful ewful, I choke it down but with a chaser which is usually a sip of apple juice. I am just on clears until my visit this coming week, then its full liquids.
I am however aloud to have REGULAR liquids, not just sugar free, because I need the calories...and they are not affecting me any diff then the sugar free ones are, however I dont like reg jello, and I notice i cna barely choke down ANY kind of jello right now...so I have moved on to gator-aide, broth, crystal light, popsicles ect....and that seems to be working well, I went to the store, with my hubby to get some walking in and to help get rid of this gas I have, and it helped...they say a heating pad for the shoulder pain works good. I just sip sip sip sip and sip some more, I have yet to overdo it and I hope i dont. I have faith in you, you can do this. just take the pain med with a chaser trust me it isnt that bad, but I do know what you mean, cause I have to work up to taking it, cause it hurst to gag.

Remember we are in this together.

Hugs, feel better and dont get discouraged, we can do this. Keep that water bottle near you at all times....

Thanks! I'm definitely not discouraged and I am getting in more protein today than the last couple. The gas is the worst, but the nurse told me today that it is a good sign that things are moving the way their suppose to. Hubby went out and got Mylanta liquid for me, and I'll see how that works. Still have at least one more short walk for tonight to get in, but I know that this will increase a little each day. At least I'm moving better than a couple of days ago.
Felt well enough today to do the dishes! Still do a lot of resting, but once I get a couple of good nights of sleep, that should help out.
Right now I do regular water, just added vitamin water in today, along with the Nectar which I mix with dry non fat milk and water and extract to give it extra flavor. Nothing else until the full two weeks are up.
Well it does feel good to have someone else who is going through the same thing at the same time. We can understand better I think then someone who gone through it differently.
It hurts to cough, hipcup, and I haven't sneezed yet, but heard that's the worst.
Keep the faith and I will definitely try the chaser tonight.

lol...hiccup hurts the worst, so does burping, I gagged on the crap they gave during a test they did to make sure my incisions inside were not leaking, gastrograffin or something, tasted like pure nasty soap, it hurt to gag and he said can you take another sip? I said ru serious or are you trying to be mean???

The girl I work with that had this done, told me today when I went up to visit b4 I left that she still had air approx .5 weeks later, and she got a adjustment at the chiro and it poof went away, if it lasts that long I will think about that.

When they pulled my drain out that was a huge relief as well.

Tomorrow I have to take the middle son shopping, seeing as nothing he owns fits him, so we shall see how that goes.

Hvae agood night, I will c ya tomorrow.

Took your advice and did the chaser with the pain meds, it worked great! got out shopping today myself with the hubby and even took a ride to Nunica, Michigan. Trying to get use to this building energy. I wanted to keep going, but hubby said we needed to get back home.
Today is definitely better than yesterday...

SHOPPING????? Wow - I didn't leave the house for days. Not because I didn't want to, but I was leary of getting in and out of the car, bumping my incisions, and stamina. If you don't have any of those issues - I applaud your efforts. Good for you. Best to get back into the swing of things. Drink your water - believe me. Lack of water will stop you in your tracks. So get your sips in, and good luck shopping.

It was to pick up a couple of things for the animals and myself, but hubby was with me. Thought it would be a good way of getting in some walking. Been taking it easy the rest of the day. Figured out I was doing my protein diet wrong and following what they had me do in the hospital. I now know what to do the right way and I'll definitely have a schedule this week to keep everything on track.

we went shopping to target and the grocery store today, then I came home and took a nap....felt good, but also learned that I did a bit too much today, but that is a lesson learned and understood.
I drank some water too fast, and realized what it felt like. wasnt pleasant, but I didnt get sick sick...I was happy about that.
I tried the unflavored protein powder, and I hate it, cant pretend to even like it, its horrible to me, I mixed it in with crystal light....YUCK...if you use it, what do you mix it in?? cause somethin has got to be better than whatI tried today....blah.............

I even went with the family out to eat, of course they ate I didnt but it didnt bother me and I was suprised. So I am happy about that...but I must say I cant wait to try some of these new recipes I have seen, and eat healthy, but to be even more honest I miss my protein shakes, I wnat one but cant have fulls yet, Im counting the days, tomorrow I am going to the local health store and getting better tasting protein water.

Hope the rest of your day went well...Im off to take some liquid nasty (pain meds) and wish I had the hospital bed in the house cause I cant get comfy yet....even the body pillow isnt helping.

I get Vanilla and Chocolate Splendor Unjury on direct ship first of every month. Every other month I add 5 packets of Unflavored. I use the flavored Unjury in skim milk. I've grown accustomed to the taste now - so now I'm adding to my Unjury milk shake. This morning I put 1/2 banana and 2 strawberries in my vanilla unjury shake. I will add the same into chocolate splendor Unjury too. The absolute worst was putting in 1/2 cup raspberries (NO SEEDS FOR YOU UNTIL AT LEAST A MONTH OUT). The seeds in the shake were enough to choke a horse. YUK. Never again.

I put a tsp of Unflavored Unjury in many cold foods - like no fat/no sugar pudding, or cottage cheese. Really boosts the protein levels. I even tried a tsp of vanilla Unjury in cottage cheese - excellent taste.

But none of these combos for you until you are into the next stage (mushy foods). My suggestion is Unjury in skim milk.

Hope you've recovered from your shopping adventure and take it slow. I had same issues with 'too fast'. Sips and SLOWLY for everything. Also pay attention to how fast you are drinking your shake - it should take you at least 15 min to finish a shake (1c blenderized). My sister suggested a timer to regulate my speed.

I looked at your diary. Gotta step up that protein - you don't want your hair to fall out. Also MORE WATER - you will heal faster and feel better.
Otherwise - EXCELLENT JOB>>>>>> you are ON YOU WAY to the NEW YOU!. :flowerforyou:

I know about the more protein for sure, lol...that is my goal today to get that in, I am going to buy some protein drinks that I can swallow, Im still on clears until my appt tomorrow, but I dont want to advance on my own, Im not a doc, just a nurse.I had a BM today and that felt great, but Im still bloated and the pain in my shoulder is ridiculous, this too shall pass....aaaaaaaaaaaaa

I am noticing that I am losing weight, I weighed 233 today and was happy, I didnt gain alot of water weight with the IV fluids, I think what htye pumped in I peed out, they were shocked by that...I even got my stupid period the day I came home I will try the powder in pudding and such, I have a whole darn container of it, and its expensive and dont want it to go to waste, I get it from the local store here cause my flxible spending card covers it and I pay no cast OOP for it...so that is nice.

I was hoping to be off the pain meds, butI am still 2 times a day, its pretty weak, cause it really doesnt do much for me, also today I am going to drink more water.
I guess I expect to be up and running around, like I was before, I am not a good person to sit at home and walk here and there, but I am getting thru that and enjoying the rest andthe help from my hubby!

Your doing great! Sounds like we're progressing about the same. I had my first BM today and like you said, it felt good. It's weird because the same thing happened to me on the day I came home, I got my period also. It's trial and error and learning that sipping is the best way to go. Definitely will be getting in alot more protein today.
Have you tried the Nectar powders? I have the vanilla and I just and extracts or Dark Cocoa powder to give it different flavors. There are a few that are just drink mixes, not real crazy about the lemonade flavor, but the crystal flavor isn't too bad.
I can't wait to start adding in soft foods. I really am looking forward to adding the Greek Yogurt back in and cottage cheese. A little crunch would be nice, but this has been worth it.

hey girls, hope you all are doing well....I am doing good today, but that damm temp of mine kept wanting to spike again, called the doc, he is not concerned as I am seeing him tomorrow, all the right things look good, so I am not too concerned, but then again, I have developed infections in the past after surgery and I would rather be safe than sorry...soooo I felt pretty cruddy most of the day.

I did manage to go to the store and get my cytomax protein water....love the tropical flavor, love love love it, the watermelon I couldnt swallow, and I am fixin to try the orange here in a few....hope its as good if not better than the tropical.

I tried some yogurt with protein powder, with no probs, the doc knows, he said it was ok.

I have not tried the nectar powders, I have seen them at the store, and I am lucky cause if I want to try them they will give me a sample, I will have to do this and let you know.

Overcame a big obstacle today, we had well the family had pizza and breadsticks for my moms bday today (cake and ice cream still to come) and MY GOD did it smell sooooo freakin good (these are 2 of my faves) I left the kitchen and drank my broth, which was good honestly, it offered me the salty hotness that I needed.

I cant wait to try cauliflower rice many ways, and I too would sooo love some greek yogurt, mmmmm and hummus and chicken, I cant wait to have chicken....with black beans and salsa and cauliflower rice, mmmm mmmm mmmm I have sooo many healthy recipes that I cant wait to try, its driving me nuts.

I did have a breakdown, with some tears today cause the pain was bad today, ok well it may have been gas but I am not sure, so we will go with pain, and I just wanted a hug, which I got.....so far everyone is very supportive, but not everyone understands and they dont always know the thing to say...Im a little on edge though....

My husband is sick, and I am doing things for him, its my time, he should be doing things for me, I went to the basement and there was a ton of laundry, so my son helped me, why didnt he do it??? that is the question and I will ask him later....right now I dont care.

tomrorow is my first post op visit, I will be posting pics soon, just to keep a record, I cant wait to watch us lose this weight together with all our friends here...we are truly blessed.

    Have a super night.

    hugs

    Mary

It's not easy at times, but I know the feeling. I keep saying the same thing, I can't wait to have the Greek Yogurt and Cottage Cheese. I never thought that I would get sick of the shakes so soon, but I did try some broth tonight and some sugar free jello.
You have a good son there to help you with the laundry like that. Hubby did laundry yesterday and brought it up so I could fold it. He wanted to make sure that I had clean sweats and t-shirts to wear.
My post op isn't until the 5th of April, but I think I might give the nutritionist a call tomorrow to figure out a better way of incorporating the protein in.
Have you tried the Sobie 0 calorie flavored waters? I use that as my chaser to the pain medication.
Good luck tomorrow with your appointment.
