Running clubs?

So my local running room ( store) has a group run every Sunday morning and Wednesday evening, where they split everyone up into slow, mid and fast paced and 5k, 10k, 1/2 marathon and full.
When I purchased my running shoes from them a few weeks ago they told me about it a said I should come out.
Has anyone here ran with this kind of a group atmosphere before? I'm kind of nervous for some reason, probably because I always run alone:)
Either way I'm biting the bullet and going tonight:)
Just thought I'd ask if anyone else here is part of a running club or group run, and there thoughts or experiences:).
