Peg Doyle's Presentation

Folks,
We had a great presentation last night by Peg Doyle of Wellness and you. She showed us what we should be eating – whole grains, fruits and vegetables, simple foods. Some foods should be organic; others need not. The Environmental Working Group publishes a list of “dirty fruits and vegetables” – items that have high pesticide levels. Visit
http://www.ewg.org/news/us-high-pesticide-level-marks-dirty-dozen-fruits-vegetables for more information.
Then she reviewed the nutritional information and ingredients labels on the foods we buy. The eye-opener was how much sugar is in some processed food and especially sports drinks. There are four grams of sugar in one teaspoon. So if a drink has 20 grams of sugar in a serving, that’s 5 teaspoons of sugar! Makes you stop and think, doesn’t it?
But I think the most shocking information for some people was how many artificial and chemical based ingredients are in Fiber One bars - things like chicory root, ethanol. Visit

For those of you who could not join us and would like Peg’s two handouts, send me an email. Also you can visit her website for more information.
Our next event is “Your Ideal Clinic for Weight Loss” with Dr. Dennis Barley, 6:30 PM in the Main Meeting Room at the Town Hall. Hope to see you then!
