Anyway, it went well...well enough that we talked about going out again. We went out for an early lunch, and ended up talking long after lunch was over. When I asked what he thinks he might like to do next time, he said "I don't know, something exercise-like? Hiking or biking?" That's much more my speed

Brilliant!! Lets hope there's no need for another first date ever again!!

I have another date with a different guy tomorrow night. He seems pretty cool, we spoke for the first time last night. We got along pretty well on the phone. He's a muscle-y guy, which is new for me, but I like that he's into being healthy and working out a lot...he even used to be a trainer. :drinker:

Volume is a debatable measure of success in dating. Volume isn't that hard to achieve via online dating in a major city. It's much harder to date in places with a smaller population (say under 150,000). Single people don't want to live in places under 150,000, so places like that are often marrieds and marrieds with children under 10. Anyway, I'm getting off track.

There has to be some volume greater than zero. But the focus should be more about the quality of dates, rather than the quantity of dates. I've really learned in the last 8 months than online sourcing doesn't produce the highest quality dates, the dates that are going to amount to something meaningful, something more than just a "one & done". By "one & done", I mean just a single date that ends without seeing the other person again and no physical connection.

True, but if you're not meeting people "in real life", then online is the only other option. And you won't know the quality of the date until you go on it!
