I know someone in our group can help me. I'm in a challenge that is restricted to 5 members each team. Two teams have 6 members. How do I mathematically make the participation of 6 members be equal to the participation of 5 members? We are comparing calories burned. 100 calories equals 1 mile of walking.

    Hi Mabug01

    I assume this is what you need

    You want a team of 6 people and a team of 5 people, to have "travelled" the same distance as each other, if each team member has burnt 100 cals each right?

    Say the team of 5 has 5 members that each burn 100 cals each
    = 5 members have burnt 100 cals each = 500 cals
    500 cals / 100 = 5 miles

    You want to know what to replace the 100 by, to make the same result for a team of 6,
    so that when 6 members each burn 100 cals each, the team has still travelled only the 5miles, not the 6 miles

    600 cals / X = 5miles
    so 5x = 600
    X = 120

    So if you say that a team of 6 needs to burn 120 cals per mile, and a team of 5 has to burn 100 cals per mile, that's an equal playing field.
