Hey everyone! I'm on the hunt for a new mp3 player. I'm looking for one that I can carry/clip on jogs (doing the c25k program), walking, and riding my bike. Would like one that tracks calories burned/distance/pace etc so I can eliminate carrying my phone in my hand to use the fitness program on there, wearing a watch to track my time, and an mp3 player on my arm. Way to much to keep up with haha
I was considering getting the new ipod nano. it has lots of good reviews as far as sound quality but lots of reviews say the fitness program/pedometer doesn't work well.
So I was just wondering what you all use. Thanks!

well, I like just using my iphone. I can listen to my music, have the C25K program going and it tells me when to jog and walk, and I wear a pedometer to help with distance and calories burned. I just strap my phone to my arm, and I'm set.0

I agree with the others who say use your phone, assuming you can download all the right apps.
Maybe we should have a nice thread about phone apps.
I use my phone with two apps running: one that does the timer for C25K and one that tracks me via GPS. I don't listen to music on my phone - I have a cheap-o MP3 player for that, which means I don't listen to music while doing the C25K thing. It may be worthwhile for me to find out if my interval timing app will run in the background and be compatible with listening to music. Hmmm...
Anyway, the phone, alone, can do an awful lot.
I've never tried a pedometer app. I would like to have a heart rate monitor. What I do instead is take my pulse a few times while exercising to get an idea of what my average heart rate is. I use that, combined with my info from the GPS app to figure out my calories burned on various online calculators.0 -

I run the c25k app on my phone (HTC Sensation) and I can run background music as well, which is nice! i had to pay for this app to run it, it was only 99cents, but it has been worth it....0 -
Thanks everyone! I ordered an armband for my phone the other day. Just waiting for it to get here-hopefully it fits. I bought the C25k program for my phone and I also am using Endomondo to track my speed and an estimate of calories. Not sure how accurate it is because of walking and jogging. Not really sure which setting to use options are (walking, fitness walking, running). And then I use either IHeart radio or Pandora for music. Phone made me mad tonight, It restarted right at the middle of my jog and didn't save any info so I guessed for todays workout. Guess Ill stick with my phone for now. Birthday is next month so maybe get an mp3 player or something like that then0

Until I read your post it never occurred to me to search for C25K on Android market! I've been using another interval trainer, which works, but now I've downloaded one that is for c25k... I like that it has the intervals pre-set on it, and that it will track me via GPS and that it will run in the background. Can I ask - how does it compete with music? Like, if I'm listening to loud, noisy music, will I be able to hear the C25K app prompts? Does it interrupt the music or compete with it?
I also found out that there are c25k podcasts that have music and DJ-style chatter that times all the intervals for you. I may try one of those. It could be fun.0 -

With my C25K app, it just turns the music town a bit so that the voice commands can be heard. It works nicely.0
