Hello all, I have had to stop running, for a while. Has anyone here had probems with there heel?
I had a heel spur along time ago on the right foot but i have pain in my left heel I thought this is what was wrong.
I had been hurting on and off for about two months but it would go away the next day until the last three weeks it was more like i had to wait a few days before i did any jogging or step aerobics.
I went jogging on sat last week and sunday i could not get out of bed. I iced the heel i stretch the heel.. I had to go to the Doctor and now they did the xray on my foot no spur, so they are treating it like a planter ficitis, and they say stretch it and ice it then they did MRI this Friday to check if i have a stress fracture since i had a fracture in hip area two years ago. I am waiting to see what the results are. In the mean time i have been resting the foot yet the way i walk it is killing the balls of my foot.. however at least i can walk on it now somewhat. I hate sitting so i got up and mowed some grass thinking i am leaning into the mower now and i have healed alot since last week just cant walk very far or fast yet and i am still walking on ball of my foot..
I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this? What did you do how did you fix it? How long did you have to be non active.. I have tried to do other things, i did elliptical yesterday and it still hurt.. and no i am not a whiny person I tolerate pain, ect in the military 4 years ago in basic trianing at age of 38 i got the stress fracture int he hip area.. du to osteopena and i was told i should go to hospital and rest till i heal up, that would keep me at basic for longer time, or since it was in a stable area Doc said it wont get worse it will just hurt til i stay off of it.. and a chance it wont get better. My choice was to keep going i was not being recycled.. So i continued to train some days i had to limp and very bad pain that i cold not move my leg forward.. I still trianed and ran and climbed.. so no i am not one to give up easily.
I am trying to heal up and do the right thing, so if anyone has had experince with the heel hurting or heel fracture or whatever can i hear how long you had to wait before you went back out to run again? On top of it all i have been eating like a pig! Why am i doing this to myself? I think my heel is hurting from being to heavy on my feet to, I have been running for 6 months and i love it, but i wasnt losing so i think the stress on the foot may have done it.. so im thinking i wonder how i can lose some weight while im not activly doing anything much. Any advice on not stuffing my face?? I know stop eating but any suggestions on what to tell myself to keep me from eating so much?
