A little confused about something!

Okay, so I've done all the math and finally figured out what my numbers should be....

BMR - 1313
TDEE (with a 20% decrease for fat loss) - 1711

Also have my macros set to 40/30/30.

So when I do my workout and plug that info into MFP, I know it changes your goal numbers on your macros. But since I'm going by my TDEE, how do I know what the TRUE macro numbers are??

Does my question even make sense?

Maybe just do a quick add of your TDEE number and write down what the micros are. Then, you will know each day what to shoot for your macros.

I am beyond confused about it all quite honestly. If I go by BMR and TDEE it shows I'd only lose 0.3 per week!

Okay wait...am I supposed to be putting my BMR as my goal or my TDEE? I have my TDEE right now listed as my goal.

If I go by my numbers, I only get a .9 weight loss per week. I was thinking of actually increasing my deficit from 20% to 25% but not sure if that would hurt me more than help me!

When I read about BMR, if you set it to BMR you maintain. Right? I just wonder why everyone goes against MFP and their settings. What does MFP use?

TDEE is the maintenance calories not BMR.

BMR is calories needed to just stay in bed all day and breath....Basal metabolic rate.

Hmmm, I plugged in my TDEE - 15% cut value as my MFP goal and the weight loss is some tiny amount, but I don't look at that. I hadn't really thought of the macros part...I usually build my diary from the morning for the 1900 cals and don't usually burn over 450 cals during my lift sessions so I just eat the 1900 calories a day for the most part. If anything, regarding the macros, I will tend to push to eat more protein if I do need to start eating back because I had a high burn over 450.

This more is about fueling your body to lose at a steady slower pace and not slow down the metabolism too much. It is suggested to cut by 15% for 4-6 wks...give the body a chance to get used to getting some fuel.

Thank you so much for your feedback!

So, just so I have it straight...

I plug my TDEE - 15% into MFP as my calorie goal for the day. And I eat that but if I end up burning more and go under my BMR, I need to at least eat enough to net my BMR.

    Right?

Finally thinking I've got an understanding of this...LOL!

I'm so confused about all of this. Wish I could help. As soon as finals are over I have to look into all of this to see if eating more would help me. Have been stuck close to the same for two weeks now.

Okay, as an example, my BMR is 1707.

    My TDEE is ~2500.

I have my calorie goal on MFP set to 2100.

My personal goal is to net between 1900 and 2300 calories per day.

I do not care what MFP says my weight loss results will be. My clothes and my bathroom scale tell me that.

MFP is my tool. not my boss.

Love that last line....I need to start thinking like that!!

    That is exactly it!

My gaol is 1900 and my BMR is 1450 so only when I burn over 450 do I eat the excess. So if I burn 700 then I eat an additional 250 that day for a total of 2150.
