One of those days!!!

(I'm just venting) So, I've had one of those days where everyone is crazy and I can't seem to get anything done. One of my students had a major blow up and will probably be put on an out of school placement. I feel really bad, like if I had been a better teacher and taught him better anger management techniques, he wouldn't have blown up so bad. I hate days like today!!!

There are lots of reasons not to beat yourself up about it:
1. You're human.
2. A dozen other things probably happened to that student before he got to you, and you were unlucky enough to get the fallout.
3. Kids are just plain unpredictable some days and sometimes just giving them a smile at the wrong time can set them off!
4. You are clearly a very caring teacher who he will feel he can start rebuilding a bond with when all this blows over.

Try to pamper yourself a bit this evening so you can clear your head. There's nothing worse than re-playing all the events and scenarios of what happened or might have happened, over and over. I know...easier said than done.

The good news is that when you have a bad day, there is always tomorrow. You can start fresh. If it turns out to be a bad week, month, etc., there is always light at the end of the tunnel. Last year, I had an awful school year. I had students with major behavior problems, uncooperative parents, etc. Summer couldn't come quickly enough. This school year is heaven. I have some of the best students I've ever had.

Let go of today, get a good night's sleep, and start fresh tomorrow.

I read Miss Bindergarten Has a Wild Day in Kindergarten with my class today, because we had one of THOSE days when nothing was going quite like I expected it to. Oh well, only one more day until Spring Break!

The kids definitely tend to get nuts right before a vacation. Our last day until vacation is Friday, April 13th! Yikes! Good thing I'm not superstitious.
