Hello Team Jamaica

Were any of you old timers at the Smile Jamaica concert in 1976? I was, still remember it even though I was only 10 at the time.

It was, thanks :flowerforyou: . Bob got Seaga and Manley up on stage during one of his songs. He almost pulled out of doing the concert as he'd been shot a couple of days before at his house on Hope Road. We lived opposite and had heard the shots. Besides from the great music, I was so happy he was still alive and hadn't been silenced.

Yes, I recall when Bob did that and the fact that he had been shot shortly before that time as well. He left the Island for England soon after. I was in my 20's then and living in NYC. Glad you can recall the events and that you enjoyed. I never had the pleasure of seeing Bob perform live-would have loved it!

JamCube yes he went away for quite a long time afterwards. It was never quite the same when he returned, I guess there was more security. There was in our apartment block (where the gunmen had parked). We kids used to watch Bob play football in his yard every weekend before he went away. That all stopped when he came back - we rarely saw him.

Sounds like fun. I have read about it and seen pictures and video footage from there. I couldn't make it either. Dont think they would take kindly to a toddler crawling across the stage, though who knows, maybe Bob's young kids were there too.

Well you know chrisja, Bob did have a reputation for fathering many, many children so it's very likely some were there

Less than two weeks after posting this I saw this clip in my news feed (link below) showing Bob playing football at his place on Hope Road. You can even see our apartments (over the road) in the background. How freaky is that? :noway:
