Just wanted to say hello. A friend of mine recommended this site so I figured I'd see what it's all about. I'm a type 2 diabetic in Va Beach. Single mom of a 2 year old and a 4 year old. I was diagnosed about 5 years ago and have been battling ever since. I'm currently on 2000 mg of metformin a day in addition I take a shot of anywhere from 30-50 units of Lantus insulin a night. I'm over being dependent on meds and am tryign to do something about it, however, I do struggle sticking to diets and work out routines especially since I have little to no help with the kids.

May 1st I'll be moving into an apartment complex that has a full fitness center. Hopefully I'll stay motivated to go. I actually enjoy working out it's just hard find a schedule with my kids. Also I'm trying to start eating healthier, hence I joined this site to start tracking my diet. Hope it works!

    hi welcome
maybe you have a friend who also wants to work out and you can trade babysitting? good luck to you and losing weight does help you lower your meds. Im not sure if its weight off or better eating. I honestly dont do any excerise and im losing so find what time you can is surely better than none at all im sure.. Maybe an idea is if your kids are in day care go right after work. might give you an hour to getin before you have to pick them up.

I wish! I get off work at 5 and have to rush to pick them up before 6. They are getting a little better about self occupying while I work out though. Sometimes I let them lay in my bed and watch TV while I get on my elliptical. So I am definately working around the obstacles

I find exercise helps my BG. I would really try to find someone to swap babysitting with. That way, you can go to the fitness center at the apt and focus on your workout. Or, maybe you can find a teen to pay (if you can afford it) for an hour. I know as a kid I would have loved a steady job in my own neighborhood.
