this is the guy who called me liar because I have told him I have overeaten fat/protein and not gained. Considering on my laziest day I can burn only 1600 calories it is easy to do and I experiment all the time.

What I have learned with my Body Media Fit Armband is that my weight has nothing to do with my calorie intake or how many calories I burn. It has to do with what I put in my body. The quality of the food I put in my body.

Nevermind. I know what works for me and this is all that matters.

I responded that the question couldn't be answered. It really can't.

I refused to post b/c he obviosuly just wants to debate and argue with people. If I looked like the avatar pic he has (assuming that is him) I wouldn't care what people thought about fat vs carbs.... if you look like that, you know what works for you..

This is the guy who is very anti-Paleo on threads ....

I choose not to debate him unless he makes generalizations about things...then I feel the need to correct him...I think his favorite thing is equating Paleo = low carb - ummmm not true....does it wind up being a lower carb way to eat - yes. Is it a low carb form of eating - no.

everyone has to find out what works for thier bodies...for one person eating 1000 calories of carbs a day may not affect them for others it can...

Heck I look at my BIL who is rail thin and eats like there is no tommorrow - the boy can demolish an entire box of pasta and a loaf of french bread in one sitting and still be hungry...for him it doesn't matter what he eats...his brother - my husband on the other hand...if he ate that like he would be probably be grossly overweight...

I get frustrated when people make general comments of oh all it is is Calories in = Calories Out - no matter what you eat...umm yeah if that is what it was I would weigh 130 lbs...I found that calories in = calories out only really works for me if I have clean fresh food for AT LEAST 90% of my intake AND i watch my carbs...once I did that weight started coming off...the ONLY thing I changed was the food I was eating - still doing the same workout, still eating within the same calorie range...but since I dropped grains and beans back in November and focused on whole foods - the weight started coming off, my stomach (although flabby) looks a lot slimmer...once I looked at my food and adjusted my carbs and sugars to the lower end- the weight has been coming off a little bit faster...

I love how he gives so much diet advice, yet he says in his profile that: "Honestly, dieting hasn't been all that hard."

Please. I don't want to hear anything from someone who thought it was easy. I want advice from someone who tried everything and finally found something that works - because that situation is more similar to my own.

This guy used to make me so mad, but I really could care less about it anymore. He obviously has nothing better to do with his life than to constantly start arguments to try and bring people down.

Thumbs up to you, dude! You're so cool. :flowerforyou:

    Exactly............

Someone mentioned a while back that his profile pics are fake. I don't know or care if it is true or not, but I really wish he would go away.

He is like a fly or gnat that keeps swarming your head.

That guy drives me batty. When I first started eating primal I had questions- and made the mistake of posting it in the main forums. Even though I prefaced my question with "if you don't follow this way of eating- please don't comment," he still felt the urge to tell me how wrong I was doing everything. Um ok- then you explain to me why I've lost God knows how much more weight since eating this way and I feel a millions times better.

Not to mention I'm ALWAYS over on my cholesterol and fat.... and somehow, I'm getting leaner and leaner. Hmmmm

I thought I was the only one who he irritated!! I wish he would stay out of threads saying the same old thing. I want to say "who cares..." its working for me .

I think he is too smart for his own good. He makes my head hurt. Maybe he is trying to help but he has taken it to another level and because of this his message is lost...

Because of his irritaitng behavior I have the same thoughts about his pictures(wonder if its really him...)

He needs to take a chill pill!!! He is becoming a little OCD with trying to prove his point.

He's not anti-paleo, he's anti-making claims that can't be supported by scientific study and claiming that you lost weight while you weren't at a caloric deficit and claiming that paleo is some miracle cure all for everyone.

Overall he actually supports the basics of paleo, getting back to a minimally processed whole foods diet. He just doesn't support the extremism a lot of people who follow paleo have.

Just ignore him. Some people seem to live their lives on message boards and internet forums. For some reason, winning debates against strangers really gets them going.

I find people like this tend to think themselves VERY smart when in reality, they're a little too close-minded/set on their own opinion of something to be able to look at a topic from all sides. This doesn't equal smart in my mind and never will. Neither does the ability to cite studies and articles written by other people.

ETA: I don't actually think this about this specific guy, as I tend to avoid the threads he posts in entirely because of all the internet fighting. Who has time for that?
  • yeah he is actually not against paleo. he believes and abides by a lot of what paleo says. he just likes to start posts like this and then when paleo people resond, he calls us over zealous and crazy paleo people. so the more we argue and fuel his fire, the more this loser will post. i mean seriously who has time to post stuff to intentionally antagonize a group of people? sounds like a loser to me. and not "loser" in the good way haha

yes, same here OP. I hate how every day, sometimes upwards of almost every thread each day, that guy does nothing but argue. And his followers. They actually "friend request" me just to attack me. I wish I could block them all. Blocking helps, but is tiresome.

MFP should have a complaints for trolling rule - something like 4 or more times where MFP receives complaints from the OP of a thread you barge or flame in, and your are out rule! That guy would be so out of here.

It's a free open forum, he has just as much of a right to share his opinion as you. If you can't take the heat then stay in the paleo group message boards.

He used to get under my skin but he's really just pathetic.. he has nothing better to do with his time but rag on the paleo life style.. dude needs to get a hobby or a girl friend and leave everyone else alone!

I don't even bother with the general boards. There is so much dietary lunacy - and downright idiocy - out there that you can go crazy trying to set everyone straight.

Do you want to discuss the finer points of pre-agricultural diets? Fine. Stick around.

Do you want to argue that your way is better than mine (or more likely, my way is worse than yours)? Meh. Go away.

It is not about him having a right to his opinion as anyone else.

It is the condescending attitidue and everything anyone that is lower carb, Paleo, Primal, Atkins, South Beach, etc says there is no fact to it and it is all antecdotal evidence.

Which is not the case. We all know as humans that our diets SHOULD be based on whole, natural foods and not boxed, packaged, processed crap stuff that is manufactured to be somewhat edible.

No one wants to make that change because they are brainwashed to think that food like stuff is ok in the human diet.

However, the Paleo Lifestyle is much, much more than just an eating plan. It is a total lifestyle transformation that focuses on living stress free, getting love, play and feeding your body correctly. It is also about getting in tune with the environment and using less or none of the main stream products for hygeine and cleaning products also.

There is plenty of information that an all natural lifestyle DOES cure most of the diseases out there that everyone can benefit from.

People don't understand that going to the gym and spending 2 hours running, then lifting minimal weights is actually aging their body more and is harmful.

These are the things that have been proven time and time again and he still starts a dispute about it.

I have witnessed at least 8 people that have cured themselves of heart disease, kidney disease and cancer after switching to a Paleo lifestyle.

My own dad is one of these people that had numerous strokes and then a heart attack. There was scarring. After 10 months of switching his lifestyle to a Paleo approach, the scarring in his heart has healed 100%. There is NO evidence that he ever had a heart attack at all.

Hippocrates had it right over a thousand years ago when he said Let food be thy medicine and let thy medicine be thy food.

The way you feed your body WILL make all the difference.

Deleted post. Kind of over this argument now.
  • i mean bottom line, its an open forum and anyone can post whatever they want. which is why i dont get too hot and bothered by him. because he actually supports most of what paleo says, he just likes to make posts that seem like the opposite. why? i have no idea. but who cares hes a loser.
