Hi,

I am training for a half marathon so jog 3-4x per week. Will I be okay doing this program along side the jogging? I dont want to stop jogging.

Also, I currently aim for a calorie deficit as I still have a lot of fat to lose. According to the book, running a calorie deficit is okay but just wanted to know what everyone elses experience was of this.

Thanks

I was training for a half marathon when I started using this book. I finished Stage 1 the week before my half. It worked out fine. I was only able to do NROL 2x/week because otherwise my legs would be trashed for my long runs. But that was just me. I would say just try it out and see how it works. I did take the week before my half off so I would have fresh legs for the race.

For the eating, I always made sure to eat back my running cals. I usually eat about 2000 cals/day, and I was up to 2500 on my long run days. I would figure out how much NROL tells you to eat in the book and skim the 300 cals off that number. Then don't eat any extra back on the days you lift, but do eat some of your running cals back.

    Happy running and lifting!!

I'm doing this right now, in spite of what the book says. :P I have found that every once in awhile, my legs are totally shot and I can't make my time intervals in my tempo runs. When that happens, I scale back the weights for a week or two (only doing it 2x a week instead and not pushing the weights at all) until I hit a groove again. Only problem I've had is that I am constantly STARVING if both are in full swing, no matter how much food I cram into my face. Hasn't hurt my waistline, but has harmed my grocery bills!
