That's the "joy" of commuting by bike in the winter - you don't have any choice to be outside, so you might as well ride the bike there, unless the conditions are dangerously adverse1

It's that time of year so most of my recent swag is lights - a 2400 lumen Magicshine Eagle M2 for the front (and it is very, very bright) plus a new battery for my old 1000 lumen magicshine, a couple of new rear lights and a Lumizyne helmet light. I'm very lucky in that I have a cycling centre nearby (Redbridge) that is open until 9pm at night. It has a short road bike circuit that is floodlit but if you want to ride the full 2km loop (with it's steep hill!) you need decent lights.
I've finally got around to joining a club as well, having been on a couple of their Sunday social rides first.0 -
Not sure if it's really schwaag but as I'm expecting to do a fair number of club rides over the winter I thought I'd better get some mudguards on the Roubaix so ordered some Crud Catcher Mk3's. Slightly fiddly to fit due to some of the odd shapes on the Roubaix however they seem ok so fingers crossed they'll be ok in use. Also got some replacement cleats 'cause the current right one (which is the one I unclip first when stopping) is pretty much wrecked now.0

I thought I'd better get some mudguards on the Roubaix so ordered some Crud Catcher Mk3's.
I've got some of these on my CX. I had to extend the rear mudguard as it wasn't long enough to stop people getting splashed behind me... Just used an old *kitten*-saver and some contact adhesive #DIYskilz

It was actually the Road Racers I got (I've had Crudcatchers on mountain bikes so was getting confused!). I think you're right on the rear not being quite long enough though - it doesn't quite extend to below the mid-point of the wheel.0

Nice saddle! I had an Adamo Prologue on my TT bike for a while but never really got along with it. Like all saddles, some love 'em, some hate 'em. My problem with it was the nose was just too wide.
Let us know what you think as you spend more time with it.1 -

I might have to save up for one like that. The ones I have tried made little difference. I am looking forward to hearing how it works for you since it is winter here, there is not much cycling for me except on my trainer.0 -

I get out for a 30 minute blast at lunchtime, when the sun is at its highest & warmest. Then bash the turbo in the evening (or morning before work).
I bought the 'Breakaway' for my winter roadie & I've bought a 'Time trial' saddle for the bike which is currently on my turbo...

Just remember you dont sit on it as such you more perch right on the nose of it.
I also tried one on the TT bike and hated it. Just could not get comfortable on it and found myself red raw after 10 miles. Now use a Fizik Arione Tri saddle. Its lovely for 5 hours or so on the extensions.0 -
Picked up a Rapha rain jacket in the Black friday sale which turned up yesterday. Will be replace it my old sail like Gore one.0

Got this a little while back, to wear as an alternative to a skully under the helmet.
Plus points: keeps your head dry in the rain, and the peak keeps some of the rain off your face; also works fairly well as a sunshade when riding into the sun on these low-sun winter mornings.
Minus points: doesn't cover the ears as well as my skully, so not as warm in the wind. Also, you do look a bit of a tool wearing it, IMHO.1 -
I went to a Specialized Sitero on the TT bike. I love love love that saddle. I tried the Fizik Tritone 2, the Adamo, another older Specialized TriTip, nothing worked until I got the Sitero. I like the Sitero so much I moved over to a Specialized Power on my road bike, which is based somewhat on the Sitero. I love the Power too.I also tried one on the TT bike and hated it. The liner pads in my Bell were disintegrating, and I couldn't pass up the Black Friday deal on this one.1
