Hello am new to consuming low carbs on day 5 of atkins nearly out of my mind craving carbs. All i want is one meal of carbs like a sandwich or chips just a small amount and will continue on my journey tomorrow. Can I have just one meal tonight? I started low atkins after hitting a plateu and managed to lose a lost 6 pounds

I was advised to start taking fish oil supplements. I take 1200 mg. I take two of those in the morning and two in the evening and it does seem to cut my cravings. I'm a chocoholic in the worst form. However, since I started taking the fish oil, that issue has been much better for me. Just thought I'd pass that on for you. You have to stay strong. Keep your carbs down so you will stay in ketosis. I messed up yesterday and ate out. Yep, threw me clean out of ketosis. I am back with the program this morning and feeling great. I'm sure the ketosis will be back soon. You can friend me if you like.

Of course I can't tell you to stay on or get off your diet but I do believe diets h ave to be livable as well. Once in a while I do just what y ou are talking about. As long as you get right back with the program. Your choice entirely. that is a hard one. I know what it is to crave. If I could I'd get a whole truckload of chocolate Easter candy and it would be all mine. ha ha ha... But I know I just can't give in to that one. Be strong but do what you gotta do.

It will knock you out of ketosis.

The first 14 days of Atkins should be fairly strict. You are changing the way your body works. You're also changing the things your body wants. Your body is trying to trick you and tell you that you "need" a sandwich. You don't. Just like someone coming down off heroin, their body tells them they "need" heroin. They certainly don't!

Every day it will get easier to not eat high carb foods, I promise. If you say NO to that sandwich today, it will be easier to say NO to it tomorrow and by the end of the week you'll forget that you wanted a sandwich at all.

Instead of fretting over what you can't eat, focus on all of the things you CAN eat. There are a lot of them. If you don't have the right foods around, go buy them!

It's not that you'll never eat chips again. You just won't eat them any time soon. Save them for later. Much later.

Thank you for your posts, greatly appreciated
  • For me, all it takes is one bite of something carb laden and I'm out of ketosis.
