Week 2 goals:
Water: 6/7
Food: 6/7
6 out of 7 days this week, try to stay within your calorie range (+/- 100 calories around your goal). Eating healthy is a challenge for most of us, even if we're used to it! Include plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet, for maximum food with minimum calories! Lean proteins and healthy fats are equally important to healthy living! Do not skip out on these either!

Welcome to week 2 challengers! It gets a little harder this time around, 2 things to think about. Both water and eating right.
After a long weekend of work, I basically have nothing to show for it. So frustrated! Ugh! Bio-based experiments take so long, so it's a week wasted if it doesn't work out. Sucks big time.0 -
Lizard, I totally understand about the experiments. I'm a geneticist and right now I am waiting on my flies to have babies.
Also, this one is going to be tough. I try to stay within my calories, and will try really really hard to be +/- 100 this week. Friday is weigh in and measurements day, first in 30 days :O0 -
I am hoping this week's challenge will be obtainable0

Will need to increase my water intake from today.0

*Sigh* I'm not having a good morning, despite my decision to have a good day... I forgot my fitbit, so I feel kinda naked without it. I come in to discover my students used my sample I JUST started yesterday (takes 4 days to complete) and I have to start all over today, ensuring that I have to work BOTH days of the weekend again, even with doubling up samples I'll be lucky to finish by the end of the day on Sunday. I just want to cry.
And I have an upset stomach for no particular reason. I think the one pill I take in the morning (just recently changed to a different manufacturer) is upsetting my stomach due to the added stresses of this morning. It was doing it a couple weeks ago too, when I was feeling stressed over something else. Now I don't remember what... Ugh.
At least I was on track yesterday with eating and water! Today looks to be even better!

Wow.....can't say I had a very healthy day b/c my choices were mediocre at best, but I managed to stay w/in my calorie goal. Had some really good mac and cheese at a restaurant at lunch, but ate a nice salad beforehand so I didn't end up eating the full plate of pasta. "Breakfast for dinner" last night which meant not many fruits & veggies, but at least I didn't pig out.0

Good Morning,
So far, I am having a good day...Unfortunately I forgot my apple slices. :-( That's usually my mid-morning snack. I planned out my daily meal plan last night so I stay on track. I have to do that more often.
What's a fitbit?0 -
Good morning all,
I had a good day yesterday for food and water, stayed under my calorie range by 200. Even with a bad back I ran for 2 miles and then walked another 2 miles, and this morning I am feeling pretty good.
Already on track with my meals for today as typically I eat the same thing for breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack - the only change are my dinners
Have a great day all.

Hi everyone! Doing a tad better today, minus a burned knuckle. Somehow I burned myself on an ice machine. Figure that one out!
Leigh - Sounds like you did pretty well, even though you didn't necessarily make the best choices!
Jen - The fitbit is like a pedometer on steroids. It helps me track my steps, how many flights of stairs I've climbed and my overall activity level. Great tool for keeping me motivated. You can find out more under the tools tab on the MFP site! I just reached 500 flights of stairs since buying it!
Claudette - Sounds like you're doing well! Congrats on getting in that run/walk! 4 miles is quite a bit with a bad back. I'm the same way with food. I have a very structured plan during the day, it's only with dinner that I get any flexibility.
Have a good one, everybody!0 -
Good Morning Everyone!
It looks like I am going to have to check the fitbit out! I haven't really explored this website that much.
Yesterday was a good day...I stayed within my calories. I didn't get my walk in. Hubby had to work late so did dinner, bath and bedtime on my own last night. Will have to walk double tonight.
Question about pasta- I LOVE PASTA. Anyone have any good recommendations for noodles. I'm not a fan of whole wheat noodles. I have tried Dreamfields which is a low carb option but was looking for any other ideas.0 -
Hi Jen,
I too have the fitbit, and I love it. I have the older model, mine does not do the stairs.
As for the pasta, sorry I only eat the whole wheat version so I cannot offer any suggestions there, it did take a while to get use to it and now I LOVE it - even got my husband eating it.
Have a great day all0 -

I get the 2x fiber smarttaste ones0 -
Jen - I have found that spaghetti squash works as a pretty good replacement for spaghetti. Otherwise I use dreamfields!
Claudette - I find that whole wheat pasta tastes like cardboard! LOL. Just don't care for it.
Hi Crystal!
Did good yesterday, for the most part. I love that by exercising I can earn more calories for eating. Means I don't have to skip out on foods I love! I just have to work for them.
Hope everyone is doing well!

Just 90 calories over all week so far! That was last night b/c I didn't exercise enough yesterday. And water, water everywhere!! I'm doing much better this go-round on this challenge.
Jen, we eat mostly whole wheat pasta, but we also took a while to get used to it. I'll sometimes mix some of the white pasta in there with it. And if I do cook white pasta, I eat less pasta and meat and try to add more veggies to my plate. This week, I bought some store-made pasta sheets from a caterer. What a treat!
Still can't stomach brown rice, but we do eat Jasmine which has a lower glycemic index than the generic long grain.0 -
Good morning all,
Yesterday was a good day for me. I got over 12 glasses of water, and I had over 500 calories remaining at the end of the day and that was still with eating over 1600 calories. I couldn't eat back all my exercise calories as I wasn't hungry. I walked 2 miles at lunch yesterday and then ran 5 miles after work. My Fitbit showed that I burned over 2400 calories for the day, I think that is one of my highest days - I walked 20042 steps and travelled 9.76 miles
Today is a rest day for me on the exercise.
Have a great day all0 -
Hi everyone!
I'm having a bit of a slow day. I have lots to do, but not a lot of time. Did NOT do well with eating yesterday. Feeling bloated and sick today from it. Hopefully I can remedy that today and over the weekend!
Oi, the weekend is going to be a LONG one! I have 2 very full days scheduled. 8-10 hours each, Saturday and Sunday, in the lab. Thankfully there is a lot of waiting involved, so I have time to work on papers too.
Have a great, on-plan day!

Good Afternoon Everyone!
I'm having a rough day. Woke up on hte wrong side of the bed....been grouchy all day.
Have been doing well with my food and water though.
Just wish I could snap out of this funk.0 -
Jen - We all have days like that! I do more often than those around me would like. LOL! Hope you're doing better today!
Oh my, I just realized I never did the Kudos thread this week! I guess I'll be getting to that today!0
