I had a great day at my first tri of the year; an olympic distance. I was TWENTY minutes faster than 2010.

Several reasons: it was hot in 2010 (it was hot this weekend too).
2012 warm winter has meant a boatload more training.
I STILL sub-houred the bike (top 2% of bike splits) and ran pretty good, run pace was equal to a high tempo training run.
Race day weight was down about 10 pounds from 2010.
I did a pretty good job of not crushing the bike. Someone passed me and I just kept him in sight until T2. I looked up his results later - he was top 15 overall.
I have my next one in May and I am going to keep running.

Also, I wore my wetsuit to the pool last week and used my drag chute on alternate sets of 250s. It really helped the feel of the water on race day. I would like to not be eligible for Clydesdale by my next race - seriously - my food diary is going to be spot on for the next few weeks!!

Luckily I saw no injuries this time!

Sounds like a great race Cliff! Keep working hard on your nutrition and you can get out of the Clydesdale division! Congrats on the improved time, even given the improved factors, twenty minutes is a LOT to cut in Olympic distance!
