Newbie Question....

I've been doing a lot of reading on the topic of paleo eating, grok, etc. I'm not a vegetarian, but I don't really like meat. Chicken is ok. And fish. But the thought of eating heaps of meat makes me ill. I like chick peas. So....how can I be successful with this way of eating when I strongly prefer chicken and chick peas over meat?

Hmm, chickpeas are a legume. Really not a recommended food - along the lines of grain but not quite as bad.

There are other meats - pork (love pork), lamb, tons of fish is awesome. Eggs.
Try getting only the best quality steak and see how that does. A nice filet cooked just right. Ribs are good.
Again remember this really isn't about "eating heaps of meat". I eat 5x the vegetables that I used to. (and much more variety).

and there are some vegan paleo eaters out there. If you are on facebook, look up "go kaleo", she isn't a strict paleo but eats good clean food and doesn't touch any meat.

I don't have the not liking meat problem, but I had a pretty darn paleo day yesterday with very little meat. I had eggs with mushrooms and coconut oil for breakfast, at lunch/dinner I had an avocado mashed up mixed with tuna and hot sauce (I call it "Meganne's Magic Tuna Salad", it's great to add bell pepper to- and I bet onions would be nice, but I don't like onion), and celery stalks stuffed with almond butter. Then for an after work/ before bed snack I had a bunch of walnuts and a few strawberries.

You gotta get your fat and protein from somewhere, so maybe try warming yourself up to more meats... or hopefully you really like nuts and nut butters and eggs :)

From Mark Sisson's book, I've learned to avoid legumes-beans while I'm losing weight as these foods can cause an insulin rise. So for now, I'm not eating them. I'd much rather keep my sugar levels low and steady and drop weight than eat beans and have the gas.

So chicken is ok? Pork and lamb turn my stomach. Yuk! Will look up the fb person. That's everyone for your input.

try to get organic chicken - local.
I like to buy whole chickens ($8) then rotisserie cook them - stuff them with butter and apples. makes 4 meals and is awesome.

Throw it over some greens with some great balsamic vinegar and BAM - paleo meal of the gods.
